  1. what the update on the buzzard mate?
  2. probably 400 shots into it now. theraband showing little signs of wear and one more small graze on the fork. shooting bands are totally different feel than shooting tubes and i feel alot harder to shoot and shoot right. i definitely carnt keep getting away with fork strikes. but practice makes perfect and i know that even experienced shooters can have the occasional fork strike. ordered some more bands. bpr do you think a lanyard could help with fork strikes. need every little help i can get. ha
  3. like i said due to my inexperience in shooting i probably pulled the shot. ive punched a hole into the pouch anyway and its improved how consistent i shoot because theres no pause aligning the ball correctly in the catapult pouch so im firing shots more quicker so im not losing the muscle memory i suppose.
  4. also i take it back about the uncomfortability it was the way i was holding it as i had both finger and thumb curled over the catapult wheras if i keep the thumb straight and along the catapult fork then bend the finger it fits like a glove and is realy comfortable
  5. Ammo arrived today had around 200 shots with it hitting a tin can most shots. then i hit the forks 3 times in a row leaving only very minor dents. i was pretty gutted but the catapult handled it really well actually and without really looking you wont notice them. i think it happened because there is no hole in the pouch so the ammo was falling either side of the pouch and with my inexperience i think i pulled the shot to the side resulting fork strikes
  6. ok cheers bud i will have a look into it not gonna be drilling any holes into this one so i think i will have to buy another lol. maybe one with a pinky hole as they look pretty cool. who knows might have a go at one myself. basic one of course.
  7. probably a stupid question but how will a lanyard help. presumably it wont keep taught so how will it stabilse the shot. wont it just slip down your arm. or is there a certain way you put it on like wrap it around your wrist
  8. well i will buy a few 16mm lead balls then. the range im getting to these pheasants is between 10-15 yard as they literally walk out in front of you. there suicidal lol
  9. will 12mm take pheasant as on gamekeeper john he shoots 16mm lead to kill roosting pheasant . its the main reason i bought a catty as im sick of seeing pheasant well within catapult range on permission were im able to take them but not being able to. make a nice meal for both me and the hawk. (within season of course) and once im efficient enough to place a kill shot.
  10. it just seems to be the generally accepted all round ammo size on threads and catapult hunting articles plus i already had the 12mm lead mould. will 12mm take pheasant or is it to light for a confident kill shot. since you said 12mm will take a roe deer i assume it will
  11. i ordered 14mm because i will be shooting 12mm lead so want to be around the similar weight is that makes sense. at least ive only got to pay it once as it will work out alot cheaper when i start making the lead balls
  12. cant wait to get practising tomorrow. made a catch box so im not wasting any ammo because £8 for 100 ball bearings is too much to be throwing away, providing i can hit in the box . then after that im gonna start making some 12mm lead balls
  13. ive got some ball bearings on order, should be here tomorrow just couldn't wait to have a few shots with it but only had pebbles to hand. should have waited lol
  14. will do mate. just managed to tw*t my hand with a pebble. ah well at least i now not to do it again. its a whole different feeling shooting flat bands compared to tubes. the power makes up for it though. watch out pigeons lol
  15. see how i get on with this then will save the pennies and buy a custom. cant wait to start knocking some game over. far away yet though need to get my eye in first
  16. i know it is dont know what i was thinking when for the extra fiver i could have had this
  17. saw one on a horse field once. my cousin was on about them on the way to the grounds so when we was on the field and my cousin said black rabbit over there i didint believe him and told him to fuk off playing about. then when i did look and saw it i forgot i had a gun in my hand and just watched it hop into the hedge. thats why in my signature its one of my goals. never saw it there again despite going back a few times to try get it.
  18. ye bud it seems solid and is made of multiplex which many says is the best stuff. the bands are spot on aswell. only thing is it is a little uncomfortable but that is probably to do with the way im holding it. waiting on some ball bearings then i can get to grips with it and adjust how i handle it seems really powerful aswell with the few shots i have taken splitting pebbles into loads of pieces
  19. after being advised to buy a homemade catty by blue pocket rocket i got on to ebay and bought one from a lad in leeds won the auction £15 in all including p+p. double theraband gold tapered from 25mm to 20mm. ebay pictures: (will try get some of my own later)
  20. good look with with the bird mate keep me updated want to follow the story to the end whatever the outcome.
  21. dont know how cheap it is but i know ultima sells its power braid in large spools and its top quality. use it for all my piking and when spombing heavy loads of bait. great stuff
  22. and as far as it not eating its like any time a hawk is brought into an unfamiliar environment, e.g a harris just taken from its parents and put into a new aviary can take days before it eats so given time im sure the buzzard will feed so i doubt it will starve itself to death so i wouldnt worry and try force feed it. But if the buzzards condition does deteriorate then maybe consider calling it time and stop the suffering
  23. it would be if there was was any injuries that would render it unable to get 100% fit prior to release as a rung neck is a quicker way to go than slow starvation. and a life in a pen is not the thing for a wild buzzard. well i can only go off what the bloke has put so i dont know whether the buzzard has any such injuries but with the sounds of it it hasnt. but i totally agree if the situation is that the buzzard cannot be rendered fit for release then its dispatch is the better option
  24. dont wont it to be like that. dont want to seem the type looking for an argument as your opinion is the right solution for the right situation . its just this situation isnt the right one. atb kyle
  25. far from being sentimental mate if it isnt suffering and the bloke can see its getting better then why kill it? im the same if its suffering its better to knock it on the head. fact is it appears it isnst suffering so theres no need to. i would sooner see it released than in the bottom of a bin.
