  15. As you don't have a shotgun certificate I doubt you will get far with anything but a .22 or 17HMR for a 'first timer'. You will need the land suitable as well. Anyway a .22 is ok for Fox but only close in, no more than 60 to 75 yards. But in truth you should not be setting out foxing with anything less than a .223, best of all a 22.250, but for now you are stuck with a rimfire. I beg to differ - my Tikka 222 with 50 grain soft nose bullets is more than capable of despatching foxes out to 250 yards- 223 indeed Les les your comment is welcome but the old finger is not,no need
  16. well done nice dog's sounder
  17. not in ireland mate we don't have what ye have ,they be classed as vermin here, a 223 is well big enough for goats, atb sounder

  19. a fast dog would not last a week in the places i work my dog ,mabe ok for you on them vast plains where they get time to pull up or turn wide ., We run ours in timber ground all the time so I aint buyin that either. dan you dont run dogs in small fields with hedges and walls like we do ,a fast dog does not cut it in these places ,that is all im saying ,other wise i would get a greyhound .or pure whipet . I would have thought the opposite were true; fast dogs for the small fields, plodders for the fens. Cheers. yes mate fast to cover then slow to stay on the game i have see
  20. snappy you going writing a book or what lol best of luck with this atb sounder
  21. just seen on the bbc new's that they are trying ban snaring of foxes in northern ireland, now i never use them myself, the ban will raise the number's of foxes that would be normaly killed by these (yes of course) but what would be the altenative to the snare i know gun/terrierwork but what eles , so how would this ban affect you, in england or anywhere if it come in, say you can't get a gun cert, or do you think by the way of the gun is going to be the last form of vermin control, i like to hear some view's atb sounder
  22. dan i think in my case here yes a dog can be to fast , if a dog over shoot's it game on a turn it gone !!! as we have small field's stone wall's ditches, gates cover a fast dog is one thing but as the lads above say fast in, but when in, it slow down to work it's quarry, sounder
