I wonder how many people will be asking for a phone number and more information about Bill?

For me it's got to be Rapids Johnson every time...Gigglebiz on cbeebies.

I've been told that reducing the head height in the kennel area can reduce this as both dogs and bitches are unable to "perform" if they can't get into position.

I lost my Mum to cancer at the too young age of 52 ten years ago. As a result, I've told my wife and Mother in Law that I'm happy for her to move in with us at any point in the future as I think it would be great for our son and any future kids. I know I'd have wanted to do the same with my own mum. Every day I spend without my Mum is not as good a day as it could have been with her and my son will never know her so I think it's important that he gets to see as much as he can of his Grandma. Soppy git.

Phew!...I'm glad I know now that it's illegal. I'll have to ask my dogs to stop killing grey squirrels and we can just rely on the amazing tactics used by the experts in which they use drugs to reduce fertility in greys to help out the reds.

I'm not certain, but I think I'm the only male teacher working in the Reception year group (4 to 5 year olds) in my city. Whenever the boys make guns, every teacher I know says, "We don't have guns in our school." I usually raise an eyebrow and ask, "That's not loaded is it?" or else I ask them what calibre it is. And I teach them how to do up their coat zips by telling them to, "put the ferret in the hole...and out pops the rabbit!"

My wife and I are both teachers and both work in a reception class, though in different schools. She came home from work today and told me that her TA (teaching assistant) had confiscated a bag of conkers from a boy in the class...in case of nut allergies! As if that wasn't bad enough, when I googled it (in the hope of proving the TA wrong), I found that several schools have done the same thing after seeking "expert medical advice."

I must be lucky; my son's perfect. Then again, I work in an inner-city school so Hannibal Lecter would seem like Mary Poppins compared to some of the little darlings I sometimes have to deal with.

That'll be why I've never needed to use it then!

I keep a priest in the bag as a "just in case the rabbit's completely tangled up that I can't stretch it." However, I've never needed to use it. Incidentally, it's holly which is very slow growing and therefore more dense and if I remember correctly, I think it may have been the bottom end of a walking stick I cut near Sticklepath in Devon.

When I first kept ferrets at a previous house, my neighbour's teenage son kept climbing into my garden to try to let the ferrets out. On the first occasion, I found two of the ferrets in the garden but couldn't find the third until I noticed my lurcher looking rather sheepish by the door of the dog run. I then found the third ferret curled up asleep with my kelpie pup. He's nearly eleven now but he still likes the ferrets. I went straight out to buy a padlock for the run...and also smeared some dog poo on the trellis he'd used to climb over.

If my ferreting dog was unable to come out, I think I'd be better off staying home too. As has been said above, sometimes, despite all the usual obvious signs of habitation the dog will say, "Nope: nothing home!" and they're always right. In my own case there's another reason for bringing the dog, like Socks I enjoy the company (canine). To be honest, I'd even go so far as to say that I don't have kelpies because I go ferreting but rather I go ferreting because I have kelpies. I have a sneaking suspicion that the middle bitch would still prefer me to live on a farm and be surrounded b

I've had kidney stones and I'm reliably informed, by a female doctor who'd had kidney stones and given birth, that the pain of kidney stones is worse. However, I have to admit, I don't have the worry of my stone going out late and I've not had to save up to send it through college.

My cooking apple tree, which a gardening friend estimated to be about 100 years old which fits the age of the house, fell over thanks to rotting roots, heavy rain and too many apples about four weeks ago. It was huge and the garden sure looks different without it.
-
The root stock will govern the eventual height of the adult tree. Generally speaking, I think it's basically either small, medium or large. Trees grown from seeds from a particular apple don't necessarily give you duplicate apples in the next generation. This is why there's such a huge number of apple varieties and why so many have suffixes like seedling or pippin.

My two year old son's all terrain buggy is great for carrying back rabbits and squirrels in the basket underneath.

Ketchup? That's got to be cheaper than the Dog Rocks I've been buying. Thanks for the advice.

There was a thread on here a week or so ago about Dog Rocks (in a negative light). I've used these for several years and whenever I forget to replace them, the burn marks start appearing on the lawn again so they certainly seem to work with mine. Maybe it's just because the rocks are from Australia and mine are all kelpies. Incidentally, is it true that it's only bitches' urine which burns the grass and if so then why?

I know what you mean; it's annoying when a vet "tells you off" for the way you feed your dog despite the fact that you never need to take them to the vet, whereas all the dogs fed other ways are in several times a year and have revolting teeth, or regular (expensive) de-scales.

Recommended hard wearing w/p trousers?
Neal replied to Fat-Ferret's topic in Hunting Boots & Clothing
Thanks Fat Ferret, keep us updated. I like the fact that the waist line's very adjustable as I find it difficult to get trousers small enough to fit me as I'm a bit of a hobbit. I've tried over-trousers in the past and though they're great at what they do ie keep water out, I find them way too hot and prefer one layer. -
Does your vet have a large display of expensive all-in-one dogs foods on display in the waiting room by any chance?
-
Don't believe all the hype! I loved my 30s; they were much better than my 20s and my 40s have started out even better as I now have a son to enjoy them with.

I've also got a pair of Seeland Beater trousers and found them very comfortable and "fairly" waterproof, more on that in a moment. As above, I found that they got caught up really easily leaving them looking fuzzy (not that looks are important when you're bushing). I also recently stepped over a broken fence with a single strand of barbed wire at the top, after pinning it back for the dogs to hop over (good deed going unrewarded), and heard the tell tale rrriiiipppp you only hear when expensive clothing meets barbed wire. Fortunately, it's only a 2" tear and only in the outer layer but I'v -
My pure kelpies catch more in woodland than they do in the open...not sure if that's because they're brilliant cover dogs or just crap in the open.

One piece of advice: if you do find a decent wax bucket hat, like I had once, and you come in from a walk in the rain...don't pop it on top of the Aga hot plate cover for a few moments to dry out and then promptly forget about it. Especially when you're on holiday and it's not your Aga.
