Thanks Pip, Its gonna take a lot of patience spent 7 hours yesterday waiting it showed a couple of times hoverd then buggerd off, to be honest my heart was in my mouth.
Found a new location where the ospreys are using, nice wee fishing loch,hopefully get the shot Ive been after for years the osprey hitting the water in front of me.
I use the sigma 150-500mm, it has built in stabalisation and on your camera it will have a reach of around 740mm most of the pics I have posted on this forum have been taken with this lens and a nikon D90
Yeh I think your right with the great grey the second might be a tawny these were taken at an owl sanctuary in Cornwall and they had different varietys of tawnys.
Nice shot bud, keep experimenting and I m sure you will find the setting you will like using the most, and dont be afraid to try different things but most of all enjoy your photos, all the best.
