    i very rarely show my dogs there to ugly but yes it matters!! be nice to go to a show where theres judges thats known for doing a bit with the dogs,, and not just ask to judge because he/she has won a couple of show/gamefairs with there dogs that have never seen a hard days/night work,, after all its a WORKING T&L SHOW well thats what they used to call them.........

    Well here goes.......If you dont ask you dont get. As a few good lads know I have just got back into it after a difficult 18mnths out. I have plenty of ground but a lack of terriers as a result of my troubles & I have also lost contact with a alot of lads who would have set me right. If anyone knows for a decent working dog for sale or something that needs running on I would very much appreciate it. I know it sounds f*****g cheeky but I was in a bad situation 18mnths ago & luckily I was able to find a genuine fella to run stuff on for me. If lads would rather pm me then thats fine

    As the post says Im up with the Inlaws over Xmas & New Year & am looking for a day out with the hunt (hounds/terriers) if possible. In this day age I think its better not to just turn up so If anyone could put me in the right direction it would be much appreciated....Im staying in AYR but will have access to a motor. ATB Taffy

    Yes mate we were using the old type Deben & if we had the Bellman things may well have turned out different...... I dont think that when you get close to the end of a dig with the Bellman they are as accurate as the old debens........Just from my experience with them.... I do take your point though that from a general locating point of view they are lifesavers....

    My old bitch Molly lost her sight in both eyes but still worked perfectly to ground........It was a problem walking her through woods or cover but as soon as I got to the earth away she went. My theory was that she learned to rely on her other senses even more after loosing her sight & afterall down in the dark of an earth their eyes are useless anyway...

    Well I went out yesterday morning , Only local just to get back into it & was as simple as this game gets...!!! A drive to a likely holding spot and with lambing on the horizon we were hoping your man was at home...Within minutes of my mates excellent old dog going in he was baying nicely & with every confidence in the terrier we relaxed & waited for him to settle down , It didnt sound like he right up to it to be honest so things must have been tight but he slowly pushed on until things settled at one spot. I wish I could tart the story up but it was 2ft into a tight tube &

    Cheers mate. Unfortunately we mated him to a bitch just before we lost him but it never came to anything....... Of all the dogs between us over the years he was the one we wanted blood out off but it didnt happen.............Always the way... doesnt he have siblings or half brothers.. how are they like The dog came to us fairly late in life & the fellas we got him from didnt know much about him..........We did some research & we think he came from a very well know & respected terrierman (I dont like putting names up here). I really wish we knew a bit more as he was some dog

    Thanks lads. the dog "nigger" was the best dog I have seen. I remember driving down west with him to clear some ground for a farmer & anyone who knows the craic knows digging on your own is never a good idea but the dog was the type that made things so easy , He'd bay & push & then just before you got to him he take charge & basically put the quarry on a plate for you to deal with , To lads who know terriers you will know what I mean & he really was as perfect a digging dog as you could get.....he was owned by my mate & I know hindsight is a wonderful thing but we reall

    I have a load of farms to go check fairly local so fingers crossed..........Im hoping for frost & a biting wind on the weekend now. Its the hard cold wind that seems to put stuff to ground & if the weathers right Im hoping for a good day out.
