  1. From what i saw of your staffs, they always looked in tip top shape, and doing a working job, even though i'm personally not over fond of the breed, The pup looks a cracker, and i'm sure it will work out fine, keep up the good work! Cheers mate, like to keep them in a decent condition, if only for my own enjoyment! The breed isn't for everyone but it has its place here, always had them round and the only breed I can read 100%! Cheers peeps!!!
  2. Cheers all, this is my first lurcher type dogs after a few staffords, which I still own and show. She's impressed me compared to the meat headed, bull in a china shop dogs I'm used to! Had plenty of help from a friend, malc1, we have high expectations from her in seasons to come!! Thanks
  3. Hi all, Went for a walk over an old permission on a golf course earlier with the young pup, 12 weeks old beddy x whippet, Tried a few retrieves with a rabbit fur ball expecting her to run ring round me but was chuffed, Only tried 4 retrieves as I don't want her getting bored quick,
  4. Another good read, at least you were out, never going to catch them in your slippers and pjs!!
  5. Just had a pup bitch, nearly 11 weeks now, seems smart as hell and really game for her toys and training in general! A lot smarter than what I'm used to, staffords!!! Apparently great all rounders!
  6. I'd agree with buster, you might get the odd invite but you'll have to knock doors to get your own permo mate!! If your lucky you'll get something but a lot is taken up around the mids as I've found out, or lacks in bunnies!! I've just started to get the odd yes after 2 years of asking around!
  7. Hopefully mate, all jabbed up now. Will be out n about with her come the weekend, next time I'm over ill bring her with me!!
  8. Sounds like a good night in good.company mate, Malc is a cracking chap n his dogs are great!! Keep it up!!
  9. I had a shite this morning before I left at 7:00am to go ferreting, I wasn't here all day, probably same as the rabbits mate!! I wouldn't starve the ferrets either mate, low energy, possible lay-up etc, mine have food available 24/7, even before working!!
  10. Chap by me selling 2 Jill's, hutch, handful of nylon purse nets, mk3 + collar, ferret carry box, £100, West Midlands!
  11. I was shown the way you was, I think it helps, starts to purse before the rabbit has left the hole! Thanks Spence
  12. Always a pleasure to ferret with yourself, lee and your dogs, and now Tom and mark! Goes to show there are some good lads out there willing to teach you a trick or 2, invite you on a day out and make the effort when you return the favour! I'd rather ferret with the lads I do know and take a few than take it so serious and hit massive bags! See you next week mate, ferrets nets and all!!!
  13. Always a good day out with these lads n lasses, rabbits are a bonus, well deserved bonus tho!!
  14. For the record, I wear the gloves for the nettles, thorns and shite rather than the ferts!!!
  15. I'd say most ferrets will go down a hole, probably bolt a rabbit that's sitting high in a warren, pet or worker! Time will tell if she's a ferret that will work a hole set, up and down the set or just play around at the top. I'd advise on a locator ASAP tho, most mk1s are cheap enough and a god send if she stays with a kill!
  16. Nice to get out on some new land, great to get out n stretch the legs, have a good laugh with some cracking people!! Just glad we didn't blank, looked that way after 2 black sets!! All hands on deck next week!
  17. Pity your miles away, ferret rescue round here has 11 if this years kits, £5 each, they are over loaded with ferrets! I had to Jill's a few weeks back, great little workers on their first outing and can only get better, another lad of here has had some cracking workers from there too!
  18. So for the lads who do use them, what's the specifics of the set up, bulb, wattage, lamp etc? Thanks for all your comments!
  19. Anyone of you lads own a Stafford, thick as shite!! Pull all their bedding outside, blankets, quilts, shredded paper or old clothes! TBH it's the first time they have dropped weight in the winter from being outside, only outside in the day but I'd like to fit a lamp in there now! Thanks
  20. Just wondering what lamp/bulb combo you go for in you kennel? My young beddy x whippet is in the house at the mo but 2 of my staffords are out in the day and have for the first time, lost weight so I'm looking for a lamp to put in the kennel, it's only daytime so won't be on all night! Thanks
  21. That kid you nicked it off was crying tho!!!!!!!!!! Ye, could see it in his face, he really wanted to get his hands on a rabbit!
  22. We will mate!! Think we did well considering the conditions, the cover and the numbers, made for an interesting and exciting days ferreting!!
