Although it was a preventable incident that caused his terrible injuries, I feel he was paraded around to hide the failings of those in authority to recognise the greater seated problem of a man needing professional mental health intervention was ignored and brushed under the carpet. I dare say Pc Rathband had access to a great mental health team and only he knows what was the final straw that made him take his own life, Sad times for the wife and kids, the trauma and possible guilt now placed upon them by such a selfish action is immeasurable.
