    Why should the yellow lab owner discard his dog? It'll just need it's confidence building with training. That may even have been it's first ever attempt at a water retrieve especially one further out than it's master can throw a dummy. We've got all colours of lab on our local shoot and they all work as well as each other. To Stevie_87, well done mate, that must have been some moment.     If you don't mind me asking, How much Beagle ? Terrier ,Border or Lakeland ? height about 15inch ? I like the terrier look with the larger ear an longer back,got an old border X fell not unsimiliar.     I was once told by an old vet, Vaccination yearly was a money game, pups once the've had their first Jabs will be covered for at least 3yr. I've stuck to this rightly or wrongly,and have had dogs in all sorts of sh**t,with only the odd shot of ampicillian when required live without any health problems till 14 yrs.. I believe the over use of drugs just makes them weaker to infection rather than the other way round,maybe someone can tell me otherwise ?

    You'de have been better taken it to a "friendly Vet " ,skin will probably dead by now and fall of anyway !Unless you know what your doing with Staples or Glue,leaving drain hole etc.best getting experienced hands on dog. You have to watch for blood clots Travelling, can end up in Heart or Brain weeks later ! Then no dog .

    The other day I got to witness a nice retrieve .A gun had shot a high bird out of the wood which fell out into the loch,with the wind blowin' it away out farther by the minute,me with a Terrier had no chance,up comes another beater with his Black Lab,and a Gun with his Yellow lab(posh me thinks !).Well in they went 10foot ,the yellow quits comes of ,even after coaching on? out goes the Black, gets sight ,zeros' in.Way out he goes.
