  1. Classic type of Lurcher ??
  2. Cross not essential only results. A good Lurcher should do most things. My older dog is perfect for me, robust, fast enough and very biddable and clever. Bred from workers too workers for the game I hunt.
  3. Basic stuff, which should be done with the youngster. If the dog misses, lamp off or dim it, call, whistle whatever but don't walk out to the dog. If it's still decking about, lamp off and walk away to the truck. It won't take long for the dog to realise how to get more runs is with you. If this is a older dog you will need to work much harder to iron out this problem.
  4. Cheers, Ho Puke lol Recon he would make a nice stud dog for Roo :-)
  5. Alright mik! How do you wire the battery fitting to the lamp in one piece of wire? I have always cut the lead and had to join them with solder and tape it up. Do you know a better way? If you could by the fitting which goes into the battery as a retro fit it would be much easier. Hope this makes sense. Regards Sirius
  6. Well done Sirius wait till Tomo sees this EON shot notonly lined up but lightest to darkest to boot Y.I.S Leeview I hope he appreciates it, took me ages to get it set up lol not :-)

  10. Yep feckit off to the bin :-)
  11. Hi all, Well it's been a while since I have been on here and to be honest it's been a while since I took the youngster out for anything more than a run on the lamp. Lots of mooching some ferreting and a quick rabbit on the beam a few nights a week. But this weathers to good to miss out on...eh! I am over the moon with the youngster, it's really clicked. Yes he runs in a bit fast and over shoots and isn't reading the rabbits as well as my old trusty hound, but he isn't a 9 year old seasoned lamp dog with hundreds and hundreds of rabbits under his belt. But Jesus has he got some speed, agil

  18. I reckon Anne Powers' line were like that. I bought into her line many years ago, they all retrieve naturally, really need no training at all. Good ferreting, lamping. mouching, opportunistic and easy to live with: just lurcher to lurcher for I don't know how many years as they were lurchers through and through when she got her first one. Nowadays its all this cross and that cross: what happened to lurchers? The ones where you can't say what's in them but they just get out there and do the job low key. Not as high maintenance as some, and certainly more canny, but they all want wonder dog thes
