    I will give you a very good bit of advice... Gain 28% had written on it... 'SUITABLE FOR PUPS AND NURSING BITCHES'... then, once they realised they wasnt selling enough of the more expensive 'puppy and sapling'.... They took it off the bag One of my dogs have been fed on gain 28% since 7 weeks old....

    I cant offer advice in reference to the original question, as both my dogs clicked with the whole 'chase' instinct straight away... But maybe a lure would help? A rabbit skin dummy on the lure, a few 50 yard runs letting the dog catch it, get him excited etc? Playing with skins/ rags/ foxtails etc on pieces of string, dragging them across the floor, getting the dogs 'chase senses' going into overdrive. I done this with my dog...always had a rag on a piece of string handy round the house.... Maybe this is the wrong advice?...maybe it would work?

    Dont keep digging dogs..... but as the thread went in a 'working dogs' direction...thought id share my opinion.

    Come the summer we will hear the same old complaint ",the judge did not pick out working dogs", as if judges can tell its working ability by watching a dog walk around a ring, and by a couple of minutes spent handling it. People would moan if there was no shows on.... yet they pick faults in every show. But didnt you know..... The working dogs are the ones who are marked up and look 'ard'
