  1. Yeah we call em utes. Looking to upgrade so I can cover the properties I hunt properly. The little 2wd just don't cut it Yeah skycat weak footed dogs don't last long in my yard. Yeah you're not wrong about them being smooth. The mother of the two others both parents were very rough coated, she was the only smooth coat in the litter.
  2. What's their breeding? They're bitsas. Irish wolfhound, borzoi, deerhound with 1/16th grey is the mother and two pups out of her to a ridgeback pit wolf deer grey lol. Was an accidental breeding but worked out ok.
  3. I run 3 dogs with almost no greyhound (1/16th grey). They never seem to break unless they get wrapped up in barbed wire, don't lack speed at all which surprised me. I don't like greyhound blood as the country I hunt and game I hunt will wreck one in no time.
  4. I'll let you know how I'm going with it in a years time
  5. Thanks for the info! I already have 5 dogs and I'm just looking for something small for small game and leave my big game dogs to their job, I don't think I'll be willing to rake up $10 000 just for a rabbit/fox/goat dog though
  6. Considering we don't have beddys or wheatons here that I know of, I reckon patts would be the next best thing. I like a nice headstrong dog too. Plus, a "thick" dog can be handy in certain situations
  7. Just wrote up a huge reply but it seems to have disappeared. There's no beddys or beddy crosses over here. I think there was one litter bred 10 years ago or so from a show bred beddy. There's more than enough proven patterdales here so for a start, like always, the pup would be bred from worker to worker. I don't know too much about terriers but I see a patterdale as a black or Black and Tan (possible red?) terrier bred for earth work and they should hold the fox in place for being dug to while being as mute as possible. A fella told me he's doing the breeding and if I got a pup it wou
  8. I was saying kangaroos are no faster than a fox black greyhound.
  9. Hilarious. Seriously though they're no faster than a fox.
  10. I'm hoping I can speak with experience on red stags within the next couple of months. I have a dog here that took a red hind single handed, but that was one and like j Darcy said its not like I can speak from experience if I haven't done it regularly. I have the properties and all I need is my license and ill be out there!
  11. Tried searching it on my phone and had no luck. Has anyone tried this cross? (Don't wanna hear stories that a mate of a mate had one and it went stock or something negative) or is there any threads people can link me to where this cross has been discussed?
  12. I use a 223 on sheep and cattle, frontal shots using 45gr hollow points up to 200m, I found 55gr soft points do too much damage... I use a 17hmr on calves and sheep up to 30m, and will shoot cows from about 4 inches away with it, don't have to worry about ricochets or a pass through with either gun.
  13. whippet X deer/grey is a popular cross over here. don't have any pics of any though as I don't copy other peoples pics. I had a whippet / deer grey X whippet staffy grey I think it was, had gone through a few owners and was really timid. had a couple of faults and one of those faults resulted in the accident to her death...
  14. I mean she's had bad feed as she's skinny and has teeth as if she's never chewed on anything... I'll chuck a pic up
  15. Pup's 5 months old 23 inches to the shoulder and a bitch, haven't been able to find what it's parents were, I got stuck with the dog and didn't plan to get it. Does anyone have some educated estimates? She seems like she's had shit feed most her life, very very lean and none of those growth plates showing on the front legs. Cheers
  16. I've seen a few pics of big cats killed over here, they were just giant feral cats though, something about genetics changing over hundreds of years or something. but the ones i saw had shorter than normal tails.
  17. I have to disagree. I know of a dog that yapped because it was holding an injury that the owner didn't know about. and once a vet checked it over properly and found the problem. the dog never yapped again.
  18. how much smaller are roe compared to fallow?
