  1. Earlier the better I like mine around live stock as soon as they are jabbed up , take them around large herbivores and let them get scared , depending on the terrier you may be able to break them to small stuff like cats and ferret , I've had some play with both I've also had others who once they get over a few months old kill their playmates in revenge for a forceful nip or a wack of puss's claws, the more time you put into it the better your success will be...good luck
  2. Nice ...6 gen from NS Rags or Smithy ?
  3. I'm a little out of my depth here but wasn't Nick Steven's Rags Smithy daughter and if so wasn't his stuff tightly bred to her because his line surpassed all other lines in popularity since the 90's and as such should show people the true influence of Smithy blood
  4. Well I'm a nuttallalite myself tried to keep them right these 30 odd years but Brian told me this himself in a taped interview I did in 2000 there been some bullshit written since about him hunting with Breay but it never happened
  5. Yes i Would think it was J.Park and no doubt countless others unknown to us all , but not Brian he told me it was just easier to go elsewhere for the blood , he told me most of F.Bucks terriers had a price
  6. Brain got nothing directly from Breay, , he told me he only ever met Breay once while stood on a bridge on a otter hunt where only a hello was exchanged , he used Davey , Kipper at stud , gotta bitch named Biddy off Westmoorland and used Rusty for stud when Rusty went to Westmoorland after Mr Breays death
  7. No its a case of you think this type started with Breay and Buck it didn't, i have book that describe one of Tommy Dobsons Terriers and it would fit happelly in my kennell now , photo taken 1912 ish , i'm putting pen to paper it all be there sorry i pressed enter before i had finished my post look at the dog in the background maybe some guy who just dug to his dogs kept a line , just work no show , and his blood was used as outcross by the famous
  8. your blinded by the black mate , you should be looking at Ruby's breeding we all know people that bred just worker to worker i have mate that does it he had a choc bitch off me and couldn't work out why if he mated her to a russell he got black pups or a red he got black pups and so on , it's easy choc is recessive dilution gene , once you mate them to any terrier carrying a black gene even if its only the nose or a few black hairs the self( all one color ) stays dominant but the recessive becomes that and you get self colored blacks there been black about for hundreds of years, i was bre
  9. most black blood was bred from Tommy dobsons Choc's and he was breeding his choc's eighty years before Breay/Buck

  13. Dillydog i can't honestly say now and its not a case of rose tinted glasses Butcher was as close to the perfect type for me back then but we dug him dead on the 6th of feb 1988 the photo was taken a few years before and is the only reference i have , he was a bit heavy chested as where a few of that old nuttall blood , the bitch he was mated to was a much neater type i do remember that, the pup has about 20 lines back to both of them and its still fingers crossed he'll do the job
  14. Cheers Dillydog , but i was only on about the heads, i've made the rest pretty it would be nice now to go back and see them dogs see how i would rate them now , i was bright eyed bushy tailed and green as grass back then lol
  15. the type was been around well before i got them , its a type i like so i suppose i've selected it , here's a photo of Butcher sire of my first bitch i got 35 years ago head types the same i think , he was line bred on Breays Rusty and Kipper via Brians Penny and Punch and so was the dam of my first bitch but both had slightly different outcross blood Butcher and Rip
