  5. yea a lab would do you mate if its only picking up your going to be doing,but if your going to go into rough shooting a spanial might be a better bet,im the same as you have hunted terriers and lurchers all my life still do but have always fancied a spanial having shot over a good few of them.

  7. read a few books look on the net maybe,want tell you every thing but its a start untill some one can show you how its done,my problems different to yours got a 10 month old patterdale that i cant keep on top he's a sod

  9. a good jack russell if there available to you, but the patterdale take some beating from the right lines they just want to get to ground and stay there, i got a 9 month old nuttall dog here and over the last 2 months i have had to dig the sod out three times when out just for a walk.
  10. is there any body breeding small type ferrets any more,was looking for a small hob to go over a small jill i got here or even a kit of a small strain if any one can help out that would be great im in west wales pm if you like or want to cheers.

  12. theoretically dogs should be broke to cats but if your dogs do not have contact with them regularly because you dont own one or whatever then its hard to do.
  13. just keep taking the dog out mate and it will all come together,perhaps theres no scent about thats why its not entering cover try not to over excite the dog by constantly giving it commands to enter cover,let the dog work and learn at its own pace, you have only had it a couple of days things will get better

  16. yea seperate them mate accident waiting to happen, a friend had a terrier and lurcher kennelled together for ten years got up one morning and the lurcher had squashed the terriers head
  17. had a collie/greyhound years ago go over a hedge and a broken bottle sticking up out of the ground slicing his leg and foot had to be stitched inside aswell as out
