A farmer today gave me a load of smoke pellets he said he used them to bolt foxys but im not sure if they would work ,has anyone tried them an did they work oh an are they legal to use,

I remember ferreting a few years back up the pentland hills an every second rabbit that bolted was jet black, mind the keeper saying never mind the colour just shoot the bloody things,a can go out most nights an see black ones not many other colors only seen one ginger one,

Im with codie on this one we sat watching 3 cubs the other night from about yards an me with a 22/250 on my lap ,any where else an they would have been shot no questions ,but codies got a pup to bring on so ,an the fields mostly crops but a quarter mile up the road its sheep an lambs,so they would have had it,an to be honest im sick o shooting the wee fkrs but to keep my permision i dont really have an option if a get a phone call to deal wi some ill do it no question,i may leave the odd rabbit or pigeon lying about but feed them no me,

after posting on here this morning the keeper i was on about has since had a wee think he phoned me asking if id help him out wi the foxys,it seems he just does the keepering part time, which i never knew i thought he was just being a bit lazy lol and i realise theres no birds there just now but i would have thought he should be hammering the vermin before the birds arrive, more logical to me spend time on the vermin just now giving you more time to spend looking after his birds when they arrive an the estates not that big not where the birds are anyway,

I was out last night looking for some cubs for a farmer when he phoned me to go see if a could shift some pigeons off a pea field, this is on another part of the farm i dont normally do as theres a part time keeper on it,any way went for a look a i only had a 22/250 with me parks the car goes through the gate theres a dog fox crossing the pea field wi a cock pheasent in its mouth, put rifle on gate waited till it stopped bang, one less carries on a long fence line an behind a big log is a fox earth wi a dead lamb ,crows ,pigeons ,pheasents lying allower the place, runs gallore in the long grass,ca

what you getting come on spill the beans, -
personally i think theres to much confusion with chokes if your a ok shot it shouldnt matter if your on the bird youll kill it ,but mind if your shooting over decoys you can get the birds pretty close an any thing over quarter chokes just going to smash your birds up not good if your selling them me personally i shoot a side by side choked half an three quarters but i do it for the pest control aspect ,ie dont sell them ave a mate who sells his an he uses quarter an a quarter with 7 an a half shot an he shoots hundreds an hundreds a year ,but seroisly just stick 2 chokes in your gun an go out

id still get something with a scope on it an id also consider getting a shotgun for running shots on bunnys, youve got a ticket for rimfires so a shotgun shouldnt be a problem ,or just invest your money in bullets for the 17 an use that for everything close range an long shots ,cheers stuart
