  1. strong looking little pups them - nice to see pups with plenty of liver. Mum's a cracker too
  2. You may be fighting a losing battle trying to get a dog of this age and experience into dummies- as you say, she's learned the joy of hunting, and if she's also retrieivng game it's likely she doesn't see the point of picking up some boring canvas thing with no scent to it. (This happens pretty commonly once some spaniels have done a bit of picking-up, they tend to lose a bit of drive for dummies seeing them as inferior. My old Springer just wants to checw them up these days :icon_redface: ) If you're going to have any success, you need to start her dummy work somewhere with NO bushes o
  3. What an animal looks very sharp for 5 months agreed, looks a stunner.
  4. going beagling tomorrow, but got to start training a LABRADOODLE in the morning.

  5. though charlie had eaten one of my lambs last night, well p**sed off, turns out it's in the garden!!

Who..Charlie Sheen?? Dont tell me the mad b*****d is running baout killing lambs now.....lol

  6. like fox digger I've come across a whippet setter (think it was 3/4 1/4 though) that turned out alright, and have also heard of (but not seen) the GWP grey cross. Have to wait and see which way the pups go I spose, as long as you don't end up with running dogs that point they should be alright- may have better noses on them from the GWP side
  7. yep, they do work. like most've said they're a slower, more methodical worker than we're probably all used to seeing, certainly pretty different to a cocker. Not really bred to retrieve, but total tanks as beating dogs, plough through any cover. I'd love one. http://www.sedgehurstclumbers.co.uk/ is probably the best line going imo.
  8. driving test mark3 today, GOT TO PASS.

good luck mate got my mark2 friday!

  9. that's an interesting cross- from the looks I'd have guessed it was a Wiem x Springer if you hadn't said! was it intentional, do you know? does he work her at all?
  10. google images will show you the variety of ways they can turn out never seen one myself, but can imagine them being pretty handy. Bit like any gundog cross though, you might get the worst of the two (i.e something that's basically a springer but hunts dead far and wide and is slow maturing!) or the best (more pointing, bigger/stronger dog with arguably a better nose from the pointer side?), no knowing really!
  11. heard good things about them, but a bit reluctant to give them my money as one of their salesman pounced on my dog with one without my permission when she was a pup at a game fair. pup was f**king terrified and is wary of any brush to this day. however...with prices like that, does make me think twice!
  12. pair of underpants from the bottom of my field- owner unknown!!
  13. As others have said I wouldn't fret mate- pups are funny things and at 19 weeks he's still seeing/smelling so many things for the first time. The running away bit was probably to see if the birds would respond/play with him! IMO, nothing wrong with letting him have a sniff at this age, but obviously watch closely to make sure he's not eating/ragging the birds!
  14. I think that dog is related to the one I gave my father. Good stuff! Haha hahah, I remember this from "it's me or the dog"- fcuking idiots the owners!
