You can't listen to anyone under 40, they're still in play. Now then with that said I'm on two and if you're lucky you could be three.

The terriers Do bring out the best and the worst in people. I thought it was just that many or most in the UK didn't understand the DIVERSITY that is required of these dogs in the US. The small wee terriers many wouldn't give the time of day are the Choice terrier in the US... again Depending on the region, what game is most widely available in that region. I love seeing the bigg'ns but they would literally be useless here. Does that mean I'm saying they aren't Good... even Great terriers? No, that is not at all what I am saying... just saying what Works for You is what You Need and D

Thanks all. Cookie is another one of Autumnbriar's breedings... sis to one or two dogs posted in other threads on here. Percy is from another member on here and Doogan is from Lonnie B. (blackdog) who doesn't get on the boards much, maybe not at all anymore?

Total case of DUMBASS! AND in my opinion, by the way their dogs came off... if that were to happen on a Real hunt... I'd question the dogs integrity as genuine workers anyway.

Been a while since I've been on here... thought I'd post a few pics of the dogs. One lurcher gyp is now coming on a year, that would be Cookie and I've just started her. The other (Percy) is just 6 months and is looking good. Cookie scoping out the premises from her favorite vantage point. Cookie after her first (short) chase and a couple of terriers (one of mine) that wanted to help finish the job. Percy... seem to be good speed on this young gyp. And here's the little Doogan... also just starting his career.

The LRT is easy, unless you don't follow the instructions. Its that simple really. I've only practiced with the LRT so far as my pup is only turned 8 months so far. I do know a fellow here in the states that has made over 200 digs with his LRT in less than half a year... he says its Spot On everytime. The LRT is searchable up to 40 feet in distance and down 16 feet if I remember correctly. How much further do you let your terriers and how often do you hear of digs that go to 16 feet deep in your lifetime. WOW!! When I started this post .... there were at least 8 or 10 posts

Those pidgeons look big enough to eat!

I've got Innotek and SportDog e-collars, may be picking up another brand soon. PM me with the type you want or go to my site. I haven't got all the Innotek pics and info added yet, maybe in the next day or two. Cheers. Dean www.workingpets.com

Good post EMC.

I bought a couple of lurcher videos off ebay. One worked the other didn't ... the one that did work ... well it was a bit like watching bowling or golf on TV. Some may like to watch but I'm no golfer and I'm sure it would be far more interesting to go out and golf versus watching it on TV. jmo... I will say the Best video I've seen was by LazyLurchers on YouTube. Totally Awesome!! Here's the link to it... can't watch it enough.

Some start later than others, jmo... its not a good sign... it depends of course. I've had pups I had to hold back at 5 months as they wanted to enter. again... jmo... like everyone else... we've all got an arsehole.

Good points MC. I really just get tired of the whining. Still... some of the ones today that are Doing It need to consider that in time... they won't be either and the fresh lads of that day will be saying the same of them. What goes around, comes around. Best to all. Dean

Princess, Prince, BlueTic, Max, Penny, Ching, Cricket, Shep, Red, Aggie, Lobo, BB, Rowdy, Mike, Patches, Ranger, Missy, Angel, Gator, Blossom, Pete, Kolt, Powder, Chester, Cowboy, Talon, Spider, Baby, Cookie, Doogan and Percy. Holy Smokes.... thats 31 dogs... and those are just the one's I named. Some were family dogs but half or better were hunting / working dogs. I'm sure there are a few that I've forgotten in 46 years.

As for Plummer.... he hunted rats, apparently loved doing it.... did or tried His best to make a true rat dog. He also wrote several books with enough genuine authority on several subjects that his books are still sought after. True, there are several books being published in terriers and lurchers, these days it seems everybody is trying their hand at it. Wait 30 or 40 years and see how they fair. Again... jmo.... why do people feel the need to put somebody else down to make themselves look better. In One particular case.... its like kicking a dead horse... literally... now thats pretty d

Just curious. What did he do that they couldnt or never would ? He made his own cross, and the cross became noteworthy I guess.... Isn't that why everybody goes to him.... why they buy them from him? Why don't they go to whoever it is that is bytching? Those buying his aren't the ones complaining.... think about that. If his place is as bad as those bytching make it out to be... why would people continue buying his pups? The fact is, no matter what you do, somebody will always bytch... for any number of reasons. Why bytch on message boards where the accused would never answer..
-
Its a funny thing... somebody does well at putting Their particular line of dog out and Those that can't or don't bytch about it. I remember doing the same a few years ago... its a mentality thing. It doesn't really mean shyte... just that its a "belonging" to Something. I wonder how many shyte-eaters all those in the Bytch Club have produced... my bet is Way More than anyone will ever Hear about because like a club they stroke each other... Only Let Out the Good News you know... Just another case of Wannabee's. This is what I say.... if Harcombe made a living at it.... at le

Nice looking pup!

I've got a young pat now, he's not the first I've had but he is the most mellow. Of those I've had its 50/50 on how they act. Jmo. I've had bitches that would fight if they got within 5 feet of each other and a male that was dog agressive, backing up to none... he was p2s. The pup I've got now gets on well with other dogs unless they get on him then he'll give back just enough to let them know he's not going to feck around. I keep him both inside and out... he's a pecker to break from pissing in the house though. Other than that, he's good all round so far, haven't had him out yet...

The only thing I've heard about the MK3 being bad is they aren't waterproof. I've also heard the batteries can be hard to find depending on where you live. Other than that they are spot on, some say extremely accurate. I just tried my LRT for practice... first time last night. At first it confused me, but that was because the instructions are a bit vague... yet not. You HAVE TO touch the nose of the reciever to the collar to Activate the magnetic switch in the collar... otherwise it bleeps like hell and then nothing. Once I figured that out... it was a Cake Walk. :thumbs-up:
-
Doesn't the MK3 allow you to use it in complete silence? The new LRT does.

I thought they all were basically of unknown breeding until lately... Obviously your mate was impressed with the "Miner" bred bitch. I'm not getting your point?? How did the pup turn out? Now THAT... I understand.

Well, I hope I didn't offend anybody... thats just how I see it. When I was in my teens and twenties... feck all... I'd take my dogs against anyone and admit whose were the better. I didn't have terriers then... thought they were just yappers. I know I'll never prove a terrier the way some of the lads on these boards Can and Do. Good On Them. When they seem to slag the older guys that Did the work back then... its just that they believe so strongly in their dogs abilities which can be a good thing also... but sooner or later everyone realizes they too have lost their pedestal...on

What some are saying is that the working terrier was a poor man's dog in the beginning, followed the hunts (wealthy etc.). Those wealthy enough to pay that sort of money, in Most cases, won't hunt the dog even if it is out of the best working line. Only a poor man that cannot afford the high dollar will honestly work the dog... even then most still won't honestly. But... a lot of that is due to age... a young lad will prove a dog far better than an old sod simply because he can... the young lad still has the grit and stamina. I doubt if Any on here have the grit and stamina that some of th

They're kinda like a bloodhound with very short legs. Folks over here used to cross a beagle over them to make better rabbit dogs.
