  1. rabbits wont ruin a dog but running it at a lot of rabbits it has little chance of catching might. the ones sat next to fences woodland etc. give good slips to build up a young dogs confidence, rabbits that have a good distance to run to reach safety. hope that helps
  2. i tried to start a topic but it wouldnt let me? I have a copy of this book but its the trade edition which isnt signed or numbered. £50 posted, paypal only please pm me
  3. oh so you realise now that were not the same person even though you didnt bother to reply to the pm i sent you, thats good. Now give us all peace and carry on your arguing without involving me, thankyou!
  4. you have pm, it was actually black recking it who accused me of being you, I have very little to do with the forums these days and didnt appreciate having my name dragged into a childish argument which was nothing to do with me. Ive no time for all the bickering and would appreciate it if people just leave me out of it. If I had anything I wanted to say I would just post it and put my name to it, and I dont, other than to post this and clear my name of the false accusations. happy hunting when the season comes, the more you get out with the dogs the less time youse will all have to sit on the
  5. nice looking dog, I had a son out of him but sadly got poisoned and took a bad fit as a youngster
  6. the last 2 really bad winters we had, 1 lurcher would have been sufficient as I couldnt get out! but as soon as the weather came good again 3 was sometimes not enough and I wished I had a 4th to spread the work load. I think a lot depends on how much you get out, how hard you run your dogs, and what type they are ie fast do or die types that get a lot of injuries.
  7. nice dog that optimus, was that the dog that went over julie? looks a grand sort

  14. he was stuck in by the sound of this article http://www.durham.police.uk/press/news.php?id=1784&area=2&station=7
  15. aye what happened to the lamping comp whin? have you found theres as many rabbits around this year compared to last? this season has been very poor rabbit wise around here
  16. lifes too short to keep anything but the best you can mate, bad dogs cost as much to feed as good ones but will give you a hell of a lot more sleepless nights, failed dogs are a depressing thing but we have all had them, dont beleive the keyboard heros who say otherwise, if you have a certain standard of what you expect from a dog, you will always come across ones that dont hit the mark. it sounds to me like you have done everything you can right by this dog and its just not come up to scratch. if you want to give it one more chance then have it checked over by a greyhound vet first to make su
  17. The press always say hares are declining in relation to coursing articles, to try and paint hare coursers as some kind of evil sick people who are killing off the last of an endangered species shoots like this show theres still plenty of hares in some places. the trouble with shooting them is its completely indiscriminate and culls both the healthiest and the weakest, whereas coursing when legal, encouraged the culling of the weak/old/sick etc and the strongest/fastest/cleverest hares would survive.
  18. they come in very handy for that
  19. use this to find the area you want then once you have the map numbers either buy new from the site or check ebay for cheaper new/2nd hand ones. http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/getamap/
  20. Im just back in, its ideal weather blowing a hooly but theres not many bunnies around here either so the couple that I did get were hard won. I had to try 3 different spots just to see some eyes in the beam. if the rabbits arent there you cant kill them. I would try further afield next time or go out later/early hours of the morning, sometimes if the rabbits get really lamp shy in certain areas they wont stray far from home until the night goes on and they feel safer venturing further out
