  1. Hi thorny I'm planning on doing the same as you mate, have you been on the working bedlington forum ?
  2. How's they bred lads ? I really fancy a half x bedie whip to team up wit my lurcher in the future , got any pics of your dogs ?
  3. Hi , I now I have posted a similar thread but thought I would ask any way as bedie whips are a much more common x , Any way I'd like to hear from any one who has owned a half x , and would like to now how they worked , did they enter cover and bushes in search of their quarry or sit on the outside like most lurchers ? I'm just looking into other possible alternatives to a straight terrier , I now many of you like spaniels but I'm just looking into other possible options , as a lot of ground around here consists of light cover as well so in these areas I'm thinking a cross like this
  4. Thanks for the info stunt man , That pat looks a good little dog , with the paterdale being such a popular and game little dog there bound to be a some litters bred out there at some point , would be nice to hear from some one over here
  5. Do you think it would make much difference in which way the were bred sire whip or dam whip ?. Like I said I was thinking a good fast flushing and ratting dog capable of catching the odd rabbit in the open on the run, I was also hoping the whippet blood would make the dog a little more manageable and would allow me to house one with my lurcher a little more easily Will keep my eyes open for a litter but i don't think it's summit that is bred vary much
  6. Lol sounds like you had fun with them , My interest in them is as a bushing dog to flush to the lurchers and a bit of ratting, but still having a liite speed , do you think if it was a whippet dam the pups may turn out better ?
  7. I now that technically it's a lurcher but I thought I may find some more info about the here with all the pat owners I'm interested in a half x or maybe 3/4 pat , if any one got any info or pics or nows of any one that has had one , Thanks
  8. Think I'll put a post in the terrier section see if there any one there with some pics or summit
  9. Yes half x or 3/4 pat I'm thinking , prob easier to get hold of a half x tho , don't you think that the half whippet blood would make any diff to the tempremant ? Little better behaved lol
  10. I'll have a look , I'm quite interested in the idea of a pat tho as would be smaller than a bedie , suppose one good thing if I got one now they could grow up together and sleep together
  11. Thanks stoaty will have a look for it , do you now if they were half x's or what ?
  12. I'm thinking when she is a little bit older maybe , but if one came along I would be tempted , my thoughts were of maybe a half x or 3/4 terrier , preferably a smaller terrier like a pat or lakey , would want the dog to bush and flush, a little ratting maybe , was hoping the whippet blood would calm the terrier blood a little to make it easier to keep with my other dogs, add some speed ,possibly reduce the urge to go to ground, but still be tough and small enough to face cover and ratt . Maybe asking a lot I now lol What's the DVD called stoaty ?
  13. Any pics out there ? Would they be quick enough to catch the odd rabbit on the run then ?
  14. Just wondering if any one has any experience or seen x's of this nature , was wondering if they could do the job of flushing and bushing and possibly give a run in the open with the added whippet blood ? Any pics would be nice to see 2
  15. My pup vary little white almost all black, new to lurchers never new there was a stigma to black and white dogs , most of my bitches litter were merls Can see a little white in this pic when she was a little younger
  16. Thanks for the advice , how hard wearing will an oil finish be in comparison to a varnished finish ? I've had a little look around e bay for another stock would like to do one in a traditional way and one painted
  17. Looks good mate , did you cover the oil with a laquer to protect it ? What I was thinking if I could get another stock I would do one painted and one stained , plus that way I would still be able to use the rifle while doing one stock
  18. Hi all, I'm thinking about painting or re staining the stock of my springer , as it is quite battered , if any ones got any helpful advice or even any links to a good guide how to go about striping and re finishing the stock , Or even better if any ones got an old battered hw95 stock lieing around for me to have a go at Thanks
  19. It's been mentioned in threads lately , but just wondering if any one has any pics of the above x's please , interested to see them
  20. All sorted now mate thanks , had some scopes from the JRS ramsbottom site , will also add very good service from them 2, thanks for the advice lads
  21. I watched perdys progress the other day , correct me if I am wrong but both dogs on there are half x kelpies and they seem vary good stroung dogs, thicker set than a border half x
  22. My collie grey pup she is 4 1/2 months in pic. 3/8 5/8 border and beardy grey. What are your thoughts on the differences of border bred and beardy bred x's ? How much difference in size strength and ability is expected from the 2 ?
