  4. In all fairness she got a bit of ribbing and some good advice on the first couple of pages but then something just seemed weird re her questioning. Forget a saluki love, get out with someone learn the ropes, get yourself a calmer, more amiable cross like as mentioned. Believe me I say this from experience! I have a heavily saluki blooded dog and he is a complete wanker They say they take after their owners. This one is more like his acestral creators Personally I dont think Tomo,s that bad LOL

  6. Not a wise move to leave a muzzled dog when other dogs are around unsupervised. As suggested kennel or large dog cage for a few hours leave a radio or tv on so dog doesnt get apprehensive.
  7. Great picture the LACS would have a dicky fit seeing that LOL
  8. Hes just moved on to better hunting RIP
  9. No matter how placid he seems never trust him or any dog around kids on their own not even for a minute. Now first keep him on a slip outside until you bond properly with him preferably in an enclosed space your garden etc,try out basic commands and recall once these are satisfactory take him out on the slip to see what his reactions are to any live stock, let him see a few bunnies see what interest he shows while still on the slip , hopefully he may have been worked before. Build him up food and exercise wise for a few weeks, then you will be ready for the new season good luck and many happy d
  10. Pick the one that appears the most comfortable on the sofa. Between two the fawn or the silver told you before the silver is the one.
  11. Khan Jihad is now in the annals of UK bred saluki history , he appears in most of the stuff, he was around when salukis were part of the coursing line experiment, good or bad his DNA is there for posterity.

  13. a guess you have to be in the no to own one. start with the basics its no different to buying a car, a house,a horse, or a dog before you part with any coin.Know what you are buying , you bring a mechanic to Check a car you bring a surveyor to check a house etc buying a dog bring some one who knows a bit about the breed, be guided and do your home work. Never be afraid to ask questions from the right people thats how we all learn, When you get your dog study it like a book understand it and its mentality. there is a science to good stockmanship , and never be to proud to seek and act on g

  16. So the lad got his dog back no charges because the CPS will have advised no legal basis for the case as it wasnt deliberate. May be I am one step ahead as my Daughter is studying to be a Barrister and guess what she is reading up on , the hunting and dangerous dogs act, so I think your talking bollocks. Agreed with dB k ow somebody whon2as in a similar situation not long ago police wernt interested. Dogs only deemed a danger if it's out of control or danger to humans or livestock. As for dbs attitude in his reply it stinks. if your Mrs had to wear a balaclava all the time your attitude
  17. A few litters come up now and again but lots are conveyor bred to satisfy the need for speed and the coin it commands,,
  18. No it's not, it's the dog owners fault for not breaking the dog to cats. Any dog that chases cats is an accident waiting to happen. There are endless possibilities of what could happen, even ending up with lost human life if the cat runs out on a road with the dog chasing it. There is nothing macho about killing cats with dogs. If you can't break a dog to cats TC I break my dogs to livestock including horses, Raptors and other dogs. They are well socialised with humans and non aggressive, why would I break them to cats they run things in a country setting .I dont break
  19. Those that do probably have lines of saluki that lack a bit of pace, they introduce the grey trying to introduce that lacking pace to satisfy the needs of the up and at them boys, who dont really understand what coursing is about, its not about pot filling. The most sensible way would be to introduce the faster lines of the pures the breeding hasnt been kept for thousands of years so some one who thinks they can reinvent the wheel. Thats my opinion. Others like the number of kills and the in and kill of the wizz bangers. are pures keep to a small group of people because you never really see

  22. They wouldnt be taking my dog the law is quite simple really as for my attitude if some one tried to have me over for 500 pounds for treatment to a cat with internal injuries that died less than 24 hours later I would be perfectly entitled to my stinking attitude. I can put you in touch with dozens of lads who have used clive reece to their detriment several of whom are on here, who will tell you he couldnt even be arsed turning up for the hearings after they were charged under the Hunting Act think I would sooner take my Daughters advice.

Either the owners will have to bring a private prosecution . The RSPCA are already under extreme pressure over spurious prosecutions and the CEO newly appointed gave a publicised statement that the enthusiasm for prosecutions for other than cruelty is on the wain. The less contact the lad has w
  24. The police will do nothing as its a civil matter dogs killing a cat is natural instinct and it was not deliberate so no cruelty involved rspca have no legal powers so who will knock?
