  1. I see dogs do the job then give an opinion. I have three in my kennel at the minute two will take thier fair share on the fens and on smaller land the other will be a journey man she will have to work hard for what she takes, I will say that a lot of the talked about x,s at the minute the only one I would class as proven is JM,s Lucas and the only proven Saluki running consistently up to date is T B,s Sonny. but this coming season I know of at least 5 pures that should make the grade
  2. just keep on posting lad by the time the dark nights start you will have made some contacts to give you a lift atb
  3. its all down to lines and aggressiveness/prey drive in the dog a good saluki will take what it is slipped on. Dont assume that all salukis are plodders or slow on the kill they are not, just as allx.s and lurchers are not speed merchants and fen dogs
  4. not if you have got decent saluki lines in the first place the mediocre salukis need the greyhound blood I run pures and they catch easy enough as do a lot of other lads
  5. seems to have got the sleeping part of the training nailed LOL
  6. Some people are happy with a lurcher that can do the job they want it to . Others go for a specific line or breed out of experience or the improved possibilityof getting a dog to do the job you want. As with pedigrees papers dont make a dog run faster or work harder but line breeding endeavours to attain a purpose bred animal and the chances are improved. Dogs of unknown parentage have come along and been exceptional just as top line bred dogs expected to be worl beaters have turned out piss poor you find a pup you like the look of that may or may not be from lines you know you put your time
  7. wash a couple of times a day with salt water leave it so the dog can lick it if you bandage or tape it and it gets damp it helps bacteria to multiply/ leave it on easy walking for a couple of months to heal from the inside out, rushing them back into running causes problems. /
  8. very nice bitch do you have her or some one else?
  9. whats his wind like? how did the bitches of the litter turn out?
  10. if its the only way you lads can catch then lamp away how do you go on in june and july when the wheat and rape are waist high do you move onto sheep pasture then? suppose you dont lamp golf courses as the bunnies are a bit nippy Ain't got no hares round here, plenty of sheep pastures though. No need to go on golf courses either and if I did I got a dog here thats a tad faster than any rabbit. At the end of the day if I want to lamp hares I will, still breaking the law whether its day or night. If I was a shoplifter would I be derided by other shoplifters because I nick mars bars and

  14. If you were out for sport then daytime running of hartley or bambi pre ban of course was the way to go if you wanted meat for the freezer then this is hunting not sport so what ever method suited the purpose/ If a lad wanted to run all year round that also was his personal choice. To many people reading to many books and listening to to much bull shit on web sites. I am a bit long in the tooth now to have some tree hugging c**t telling me what to do. I have in my life hunted for meat for the table out of tradition and necessaty now I run my hounds for the sport so daytime suits me I am not a

  16. why would anyone want to lamp a good coursing dog? two different games and different styles of running. like flat race and steeple chasers horses for courses . Some lads may have all round lurchers that will take a bit of anything but like the old saying jack of all trades and master of none.
