  2. was locking up the shed about a month ago and could hear this crunching noise , was me stinkers munching on a snail. they have been fine , not sure about slugs tho ?!?!?!
  3. Cheers buddy...he,s a propper little yorkshire lad. . . I'm just trying to show him theres more to life than Xbox and Tinternet. . .lol. Hope you have a good season too mate. atb vin same as that, i got into ferretin after thinking about it for years and years mainly to get my nephew out the house and away from that ffing xbox ! now i like nothing more than to get the stinkers out and work um on a nice frosty sunday morning , just been given the nod to work another farm who has 3500 achers . thinking im on the look out for some more nets lol
  4. i had this problem last week, i introduced them slowly like you are thinking about doin and it worked fine for me . BUT i waited until my ferts was 14 weeks old. its just the pecking order and they will calm down after a couple of days , several people have advised me to use olive oil or bitter apple spray on there necks . hope this helps , atb sam
  5. thanks joe , i was letting them out in my workshop its neutral ground to all of them , there big enough to fight back and have done and now there all living happily in the big cage cant wait to get out and work them this year , not long now chaps !!! tic toc tic toc .........

  9. lol nice lookin chap , just lost a hob like this , didnt lock the cage properly one night ! proper gutted as he was a very good pet and worker ( RIP albi )
  10. thanks fox tails i have seperated them now and have them in seperate cages. i let them out for exersize in my workshop and hopfully they will get familiar with each other a bit more . the jill is normally really friendly and has never nipped or even showed me her teeth so was a big surprise.

  12. If you feed them before handling, they will not be so boisterous with a full belly. TC remember to wash ya hands tho or you will lol
  13. she had drawn blood on his neck with 1 little tooth mark il rub some apple on him now and see how it goes
  14. handle them as much as you can and they will be fine , when they get excited they nip and bite just like a puppy or kitten. so dont let it put you off if they nip , also be carefull if you have smells of food on ya hands befor you handle them
  15. hi all, been ferreting for about 3 years now and recently lost my hob (rip albi) . iv got 2 new silver hobs and one of my jils keeps biting him in the back of the neck / shoulders . he runs of and trys to hide but she keeps following him and picking on him , i think its the pecking order and they will sort it out between them selves but i will not leave them alone at the moment . can anyone give advise please as i dont want him getting hurt as he only 15 weeks old the jil is about 2/3 years old. all advise good or bad welcome
  16. i feed dry biscuit by james wellbeloved gnipper and bunny when its in season .
  17. i use a towel or a t towel to make a homock , mine sleep in it all day and night i actually have 3 hamocks and thay love to play and fall about in them , tennis balls are a good idea too , when animals of any kind are roaming up and down the bars its because there bored stiff , try some toys and a few tunnels like drainpipe and see how ya get on , all the best
  18. thanks for the advise chaps , iv recently lost my hob that iv had for about 3 years he was vasectomised and looked after my two and another 4 jills on the estate much to his disgust . im giving one of the new silver hobs to my nephew soon so i will only have 1 by the spring anyway , just need to sit back and wait for that special time of the year .
  19. hi all , i got 2 new hobs 12 weeks old and there in there own cage atm but i was thinking of putting both of them in with my two jills , question is will they be ok or will they fight ??? there is an easy way to find out i know but dont want to take the chance ! also how old will they be when there sexually active as i dont want loads of babys running about ???

  21. its nice to see someone putting the effort in and thinking about getting everything ready befor they arrive . some good advice here from other people im sure you will make alterations as and when it needs it if it does, one thing i will say tho is that ferrets are very very persistant and will not give up until they are free , k.i.s.s is so true . all the best and keep us updated .
