IRISH DIGGING CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIERS
kegs replied to tango's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
with the interest last year this should be a great competition well done -
mary you tear away with your racing day and have a goodun, for all the hardcore hunters on here yous sure do some cryin about the shows for people who arent interested in them,an amatuer boxing club deserves a donation as much as the next cause as it give younguns something else to do in life.ill most likely be out with the hounds that day but best of luck to those that go and ill be up at your next one in the summer

heres a thought, theres plenty of shows running in ireland north and south that bring the judges in from england so how can a show as big as the midland not bring someone over to do it as theres a few good judges of a dog over here,

in fairness now albert your graspin a bit as not to many current breeds even look like they did in 1937,would the kc today register a three quarter retreiver quarter greyhound.i think not or would they even regester a litter from a regestered dog and an unregestered bitch again i think not so your line of defence isnt the best.the bottom line is when you look at a non-ped and a kc whippet there is a vast difference in the details and the bottom line is the mid antrim or glenbank or what ever they are called this week or next year have only done one thing consistently since ive been at your eve

good luck lads and i hope the weather holds for yas -
what aloada cack on a screen i didnt get to the show but!!,at no other show this year has a pup been allowed to enter in other classes, thats why theres a pup championship, was this dog not beat in the pups anyhow according to the list, flashellie how can you defend blinkers on a running dog and then spout about the lure should be a tail or skin,if the dog cant see a big white flapper to chase then it sure wont see a skin,

kegs replied to appleblossom's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
sure it won a working class at a show man course youd want a service lol, on a serious note,a well done to the lads doin the racing,a well done job and to albert as i usually am hard on him well done on a good fair.good to see a couple of workin dogs take the 5 nations win a reserve two crackin animals -
matt slevin knows his stuff ,this year i thought the whippet judge and lurcher judge at shanes were very good
-
just of track a little has any one else wondered why the feck lads from the travelling community walk round with their socks over their track bottoms in their trainers every time they get on grass, wired me thinks
-
hate rotties and dislike collie bred dogs personally as any i had broke to easy
-
weight will be the way to go eventually,i was at shanes and spoke to quite a few whippet owners who were quite rightly very annoyed about the race organizers unwillingness to stop the lurcher racing on the day in the so called all ireland whippet final, lads a show is just that a show and no matter what any organizer does a judge has to pick a dog that is structurely sound and with sound limbs and movement, busted faces prove nothing as i along with most of you will have seen plenty of busted chins on rubbish dogs, having been to the roscrea show i know the same farce wont happen at birr and that

BALLINLOUGH CASTLE COUNTRY FAIR
kegs replied to IrishNationalCountryFairs's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
well it pains me to say that this show was rubbish,i thought last year was small but good, there were decent enough stalls and from a dog point it was well enough run and fair enough judged.all that was needed this year was a slight emprovement in the fair and there you go a successful event but lads you well and truely dropped the ball, does either of your terrier judges even keep terriers.as far as i can remember it was the worst ive seen for a main fair in our island.sorry but you cant rest on your arse when the small shows around at the minute are kickin it -
Great Game Fairs of ireland Whippet Racing
kegs replied to a topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
i was there on saturday at the final, hats of albert it was a great conclusion to the competition with a photo finish.but that was then over shadowed when you left albert with one of the worst displays of racing at any fair ive been to,the bottom line is albert its time for a spring clean.youve proved to me and others you want the best for your events and im sorry but again you have been consistantly let down by what remains of the mid antrim money grabbers,in fairness anyone can have a lure break but when it was going it was yards ahead of the dogs to the point that they stopped chasing it to -
hope to get a run up to this good luck for the day
-
maybe not but surely the whippet judge for the showing should be able to tell if a particular dog or bitch put up to race is a whippet or not.see yous there

Ballywalter Game & Country Living Fair
kegs replied to AlbertJ's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
Kegs, We were delighted with the turnout of Terriers & Lurchers at Ballywalter but your claim that they made up over one third of the crowd is rather exaggerated. We actually know from the gate what % of the overall crowd were made up by T&L owners and Clay Shooters. Both had high attendance and certainly there were vastly more shooters at Ballywalter than Ballinlough! BUT both were far outweighed by the general sporting public, gundog enthusiasts and anglers. I attach a photo taken by me at 4.00pm on the Saturday when there were NO terriers & lurcher events. And this was -
Ballywalter Game & Country Living Fair
kegs replied to AlbertJ's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
skinny said it was inferior to the other three fairs which it is.the saturday at ballinlough didnt have the dog events on same as saturday at ballywalter and although not there there wasnt any differance in attendance from what i was told,3 stalls told me the ground was empty of people at 5pm.ballinlough on sunday last year had as many as ballywalter had when the dogs were on.ive heard you say in the past that the lurchers and terriers are only a small part of the show sunday at ballywalter at least a third if not more at that were lurcher and terrier people, again well done on the fair its no -
Ballywalter Game & Country Living Fair
kegs replied to AlbertJ's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
Skinny, While everyone is entitled to their opinion on anything for you to claim Ballywalter was inferior to Ballinlough is absolute rubbish. The attendance last year on the Saturday at Ballinlough demonstrated its lack of appeal. I would accept it was smaller than Moira but if anything the stands were better quality. Taking the stable yard alone are you seriously claiming the Firefly shop with guns and good quality clothing; The Smyths Shop majoring on Barbour and Guns; the huge gun display By Donal Mc Cloy; the Redmills Stand; the Flogas Game & Cookery display; the Wildebeeste Embro -
