  1. in this hot weather, I tend to place shallow bowls of cold water in all the hutches/courts, if their eye's are open, and their crawling, they will find it, tend to think that milk and meat juices, aint whats always wanted on hot days
  2. do you go on the pay version or the free one stubby, as the free one is a bit dated mate ----jack no, the free one of course, although dated, the boundary fences are normally correct
  3. as I work nights, and sleep mornings, it took me around 3 afternoons from start to finish, I have a jill and 5 kitts in there now, they love the triple floors and connecting pipes, just need to raise the cage up higher on some concrete blocks, for easier cleaning/viewing
  4. on most of my permissions, Ive used google earth, do a couple of copies, one for the landowner, he can then mark areas you have access too, and you can mark area's of heavy rabbits, large warrens etc
  5. what no one else has mentioned, but using "any smoke" to flush rabbits and or ferrets, is probably breaking more legalisations than I care to mention, although doubtful that someone watching you ferret, would also know the different legalisations, but there's always a first time for everything
  6. i'd say with a terrier he's using one so he dig's down straight to it proberly he has a terrier that stay's till dug to, were as with the ferret's if you just net the hole's job done if the ferret do get hold of one and stay eating it you can alway's smoke them out alot faster than digging to them in my opion i prefere using smaller ferret's that way when they do grip the rabbit the rabit can still squeeze past and most of the time will surface with the ferret still clung on SMOKING RABBITS AND FERRETS OUT now, where have I heard that before
  7. opp's, thats told me certainly my love

    sundays

Im off out rabbiting now, I'll tell you when I get back
  9. a ferret finder cant be "kept in case I need it", how would you know your going to need it, until the fert is stuck down for hours, start yelling at the hole for it to come out and put its collar on
  10. I'll stand corrected then guys
  11. so, you think it's neccessary to have a terrier LRF, yet are asking if a ferret one is needed, does that mean you dont value ferrets as much but ditch, how do you consider something, that had'ent been invented
  12. some nice looking kitts there pat, is driller 2 amongst them?
  13. why take faces out??? Im a fully quailified pest controller, I only ferret area's with permission why should I feel the need to hide my face, at the end of the day, the law is on my side, Ive always felt, hiding ones face, or photo shopping it, only makes the lawful seem unlawful
  14. it does to a degree, thats why I built the two nest boxes at the bottom, thus being cool, the anderson shelter/court needs a re-vamp later this year, I'll either be installing a large fan, or air con of some sorts, plus Ive just got another patch of the garden, so can feel yet another court coming on
  15. , but pat, Im getting you an 8x4 sheet
  16. some of you may already know, that my ferret court is an old world war 2, anderson shelter, modified slightly of course, well I needed some more cage space, as my breeding cages are full of kitts, so started looking at building a cage, mainly for kitts, wanted to keep it matching, so luckerly, a nieghbour had an old anderson shelter, ready dismantled rotting away at the back of his garden, I got two sheets off him, cut the rotted bottom off, and built "ferretvile" well happy with the finished huch, 3 floors connected with tubes, 2 sleeping boxes at the bottom, so as to stay cool in the su
  17. the only difference between a terrier collar and a ferret collar, are the length, just get a hole punch to put new holes in, and cut it down a bit with scissors, although I left mine slighty longer, for using on my big hobs there you go, just saved you £5.50
  18. have a vit here too, I found they are heavy petrol drinkers, if you try running it in 4 wheel mode on streets, keep it to 2 wd and they are great, brilliant for lamping from, driving slow around the orchards in 4wd dont drink the juice
  19. some silver hobs going tomorrow, have 2 silver jills held for rolfe, still leaves silvers (ready now) polecats, normals and darks (ready now) the same again, ready next week then albino's, silvers. polecats, sandies, ready in approx 3 weeks
  20. If you get a hob get him snipped and they can live together all year round and if you want to breed your jills you can borrow a hob beg to differ, leaving a snipped hob in with the jills is not a good Idea, he will rag them silly, better to let him get them out of season, then move him to another cage, a castrated hob can be left with jills all year round, but theres no gurantee he'll get them out of season
  21. so tack it down, although you'll end up with condensation between the lino and floor, eventually rotting the base, maybe at a later date, remove the base and set it in concrete, that can be hosed down
  22. boston, taken a few weeks back
  23. so, after visiting my mum and dad, we popped into a local pet shop near there house, only to come out with these two, a bit to small to put with the hens, so are living in the front room at the moment
