  1. I use a fly screen on cage/court fronts, net curtain will do the same job, feed meat only after its dark, and remove any un eaten soon as in the morning, flies will still get attracted to dry, just not as many, do you use any sort of bacterial spray on your daily clean, get yourself the stuff they use on dog kennels, can be watered down in a spray bottle, then when clean the corner each day, spray the area first before putting fresh woodchip in fly papers also work,
  2. surely a "uncle" vet would do it for free, Ive had hobs snipped at less than a year old have you bothered looking in the pinned post, top of this section, "owners with snipped hobs" if you have and no one near you has advertised, that sort of answers your question, which would make this post a bit useless Ive just looked and there is one in cornwall, have you pm'd him??? or do I have to do everything
  3. he is a lovely dog, only pucked on me twice now
  4. come on jojo, it aint rocket science, keep them clean, rather than leave them in season, in a dirty muck filled fly infested cage but without jumping on the driod bandwagon, he's got a point, your quick enough to start throwing these explanations into the conversation of why a jill left in heat will die, yet when asked the percentage, you sidestep an answer, maybe you should just keep all these wonderful facts to yourself, and then when $hit hits the fan, you can point at us "worker keepers" and quote how better "pet keepers" are
  5. ffs, why does everyone suggest killing everything? 1 eye makes no difference too true, Ive got something with only one eye, and it works great
  6. any runts in a litter, I tend to remove daily and give an extra feed too before popping back, as suggested, try bathing the eye with some luke warm water
  7. still have ferrets for sale polecats, some very dark, ready now silvers, albino's sandies, polecat, ready in a week or two, dark ones
  8. ok, so you put a 100yd longnet in your carrier bag, grab hold off all the net poles, as this is a QUICKSET NET where the poles are already attached to the net, get to your permission, and spend an hour or two, untangling your net with the proper basket, as dave has made, you place the strap behind your neck, basket in front of you, take out first pole, normally white to denote the first pole, stick it in the ground and start walking backwards, the longnet flows freely from the basket as you do so, your hands/palms are held facing down over basket, the next pole, pop's up into your hands, t

    is it illegal

depends if you under age or not, know quite a few youngsters, that go anywhere, and if challenged just say, sorry and go, as an over 18 though I'd say yes you'd need permission, most parks have by- laws, and remembering my parks, one of them was no digging, no hunting, so that blows ferreting out
  10. only prob I could see, is ferts getting stuck down them ant runs seriously mate, if they are in cages, not court, can you not put a bit of ant powder down,
  11. what are you baiting with? have used these traps for the railways, 30 plus in a line, 20ft apart, with very good results, we used carrot chips, dont put whole carrot in, as they can go under the tread plate and stop it from being depressed, just chip a few bits of carrot with your knife, behind the tread plate
  12. god don't lets start this topic again, do a search in trapping blacksmith, you'll find this has been asked many a time
  13. you can use that once your back, and were off ferreting for the day mate and thanks for relaying a dark ferret back to jacob once your back, thats 3 to go now (from that litter anyway)
  14. and there's another product aimed at "the pet owner"
  15. wipes a tear from his eye that's a couple of very sorry looking foxes, maybe they were related, short legged, big head, backward joints pack
  16. its a rat smoker mate, stick a butane gas bottle on the back, ignite, simular to a blow torch, and it vapourises the oil in the container, pull the trigger will holding a 3ft lance over the front, and you get a very dense stream of smoke, flushes the rats out
  17. richie bought his ferrets over to me today, and what a lovely looking bunch they are, nice albino kitts, that my missus (wasp) has already picked a tiny jill from, they have all settled into the outside court for their two week break for anyone looking for some dark jills, still got these x 4 and thanks once again mate for my new toy, I'll sort something out with you when you collect your ferts
  18. or look in the pinned posts at top of the ferret page
  19. very funny story but now you'vre calmed down a bit, TAKE THE CAPS LOCK OFF, it's classed as shouting and rude
  20. mk3's click/bleep the same, no matter how many ferts you have down, but theres no need to check with it straight away, if you aint seen a fert for a good half hour, box the others up as they appear, leaving just the one down to search for, always remember to move your carry box with other ferts/collars at least 16ft away from the search area, or else your pick signals up from them, then you'll really feel a fool
  21. I did the opposite, I removed the youngest/smallest kitt for a few days, as it was on deaths door, as was not getting her share of meat, kept her in a cage, giving her fresh rabbit 3 x day, plus kitten milk, put her back in the court yesterday, and she's doing fine, although I still remove her for a hour daily, for her own little feed/milk
