  1. got a pair of muckboots last season, tried them on and immediately thought comfy as, however three months later all the lining worn away at the back heal, having to wear two thick pairs of socks now to stop my heals getting blisters shite bought a pair of trespass hiking boots a few months back now £30 and as yet nae problems with them and I wear them day in day oot, not fully waterproof though so I,m thinking pair of sealskinz along with the hiking boots, bin the muckboots
  2. aye stay out the woods them ninja collies are everywhere doon your end lol atb
  3. Great post , picking up on your point about raciness, great example of what you,re talking about in the don dog pictured, lose some pace for robustness, much less hassle
  4. make sure its not to tight and keep it clean
  5. hope your dogs ok lad, give it time too heal properly , atb
  6. you keep saying you,re a top bloke in real life but I,ve read a few of your comments now which are very scathing/ critical of other peoples methods, Practice what you preach my friend Can you point to post where I say I am a top bloke in real life. Most think I am marmite you either love me or hate me I deal with it.I dont do sob stories threads on the internet on the subject . I have never belittled or looked down on others in life be it hunting or day to day things. ATB Cookie I beg to differ
  7. aye alwa\ys found the deerhound idea of mixing with the collie interesting, a type I may stear towards in future
  8. Two things stand out for me as to why a collie saturated dog will be any good or a failure, the type of collie used in the first place, steer clear of nervous types, go for hard working steady type animals and also the man behind the dog as any mistakes made during training can feck a collie type right up

  10. Idiatton dont no why bother its onyl rabits no wurth gettin woond up abuot, no erm wait the noo, sport of kings so itis, awe feck am awey oot with young jukel and hard pace running form govarmentpuppets usee are awe eejits lol am da best
  11. Love them hate them whatever, theres a certain something in a collie lurcher which personaly I gel with, some folk don,t though, good and bad in every breed though
  12. Lots of good points there lads and as I,ve said I can appreciate locators are very handy, I have noticed though its the auld yins who are commenting and seem to make the point the locator only comes out when absolutely necessery which is all good, can,t help thinking that the up and coming generation young ferreters may be missing out though when it comes to having a well schooled dog doing its stuff and will probably rely on the disco carrot a bit too much
  13. you lads certainly get aboot, full of enthusiasm, good stuff
  14. sounds good lads, exciting stuff the rats once they start bolting lol
  15. I suppose what I,m really trying to say is there is two different ways/styles of ferreting and i can appreciate both but you know which I prefer And thats how it should be Rox, well said mate.
  16. No not regular mate, I only use jills as apposed to hobs which get to handy at killing in, saying that I have stood about freezing my nuts off on a few occasions in the past lol not this season though ( touch wood ) maybe because I,m familiar with the ground and avoid certain warrens like the plague
  17. I seen a killer in being used to great affect when the jills weren,t shifting them and then you whipped you,re big hob out and must admit i was impressed using the locator take the other day though when you and me were out ferreting and you got the locator out and managed to retrieve the rabbit just inside the hole, if you hadn,t used the locator maybe one of the inexperienced pups would,ve had the chance to locate this bunny using there own senses and a valuable lesson on the dogs part would,ve been learned I joked at the time "aye they locators are still pish if I had Roxy with me
  18. Don,t get me wrong mate I can see the plus points of using locators and can appreciate what you,re saying But if you ferret with a locator the very fact that you have one will affect the decisions you make and how you,re dog/ferrets work and a certain aspect of fieldcraft will be lost na mate i disagree, maybe for some folk, an id be more inclined to think that if it was going to effect anybody out ferreting it would be the folk that learned how to ferret using a locator, if you have done any sort of serious ferretin without a locator, then i dont think having 1 in your bag will effect
