Excalty, the high kings. Every providence had one, long before Britain had an established monarchy. Atb j

As far as I remember, I'm open to correction on this, Britain was much the same as every other celtic country. Ran by its own tribes and clans. Then the Romans came, changed a lot, they left, the the Saxons, added more to the mix, and then the norse. As far as I can make out, imo, England is mostly based on Saxon ways, laws and traditions. Scotland and Wales wasn't affected as much as England was, but that in turn changed in time also. Atb j

In a 1167 diarmuid mac murchada brought the English into Ireland to help fight his enemies to get his crown back, after the was exiled to France. King Henry 11 was king of England that time. Atb j

"Its the Celts of this land who are the true fore fathers - not a bunch of invasive Saxons who came here for economic and social reasons and who stayed on - most blotting out the culture, religion and identity of those who had inhabited these lands before them ......" never a truer word spoken, very well put. thank you for putting into words, what i tried and failed to do. Yes they did, terrible shame. Just look at Ireland Wales Scotland and Cornwall, language nearly wiped out, but it's still there and making a come back. It happened, right or wrong, no-one to blame today for it happening. It does prove it doesn't work, multiculturalism, we see what it has done to other counties. By all means, yes have differant races, cultures ect ect living here with us, learn from them and teach what we know. But never change your culture, your faith, believes traditions, to accommodate others, or in case you might offend others that don't hold your

Then teach it at home if the schools won't. When we were going to school, we were taught all about our ancient history, from the high kings of Ireland, Finn mccúl and the irish warrior race ect ect. About local, pagan Gods and their names sakes. This the fiber of a country and its people, it's history good and bad. Not to be made feel ashamed for what you ancestors did in the past, or to be blamed for it. Atb j

And that's where the problem is. How the hell do they compare singing a song about a black sheep to racism, pc, gone nuts. Things like this is no good for any fourm of multiculturalism, it only makes the divide bigger. Their doing to themselves Atb j

And there nothing to say it won't or couldn't happen over here, if things go like Italy. Hopefully not, for all concerned, it's scary to see how fast society can crumble. Atb j

"Over here, I think the fact they have a language that’s ancient and uniquely theirs helps hold the culture and heritage in place......and they are fiercely proud and protective of it. Its interwoven with tales and songs and characters from way back in the past (back as far as the first kings of Ireland) and that imho can only be a good thing." Britain has all that's as well wilf, same as all European countries, all it has to do is bring it back to life again, teach it to their kids, don't hide it or forget about it, or think it doesn't matter in this day and age. I'd gladly fight and die for my country, but even I have my limits ??? Atb j

It was the Saxons, who really made England what it is today, and brought Christianity full bore to the island, after the Romans left. As far as I can remember they were heired in to help defend against the Welsh, Scots and irish taken over. Once they got in they stayed. Atb j

Britain, like Ireland was just one island country. Just governed in parts by differant clans, but all on the same page so to speak. All of Europe was essentially the same, Celtic tribes, until the Romans came, then things started to change. Atb j

What, who has a problem with disabled That's low, even for me ?? Atb j

Of course I'd help my own people, but that's as far as id go. This is the point in trying to make, charity begins at home, look after our own, no foreign aid to other countries, put it back into ours. No taking in refugee, asylum seekers, giving them homes, health education, we have plenty of our own people that need it. Banks foreclosing on homes here, putting people out on the street, that genuinely fell on hard times, but the government turns around and takes in some other countries problem and houses them. Atb j
