  3. I was told recently about a small electric deterant that can be fitted on to or around the springs on feeders, that deter rats but don't deter the game birds. Has anyone else heard of this? Not sure if it exists or if the guy was making it up!

  7. Hi there, I am playing with the idea of getting a springer pup. However I have an 7-8 year old lab rescue, do you think that I should wait for the old boy to pass on so he doesn't pass on any of his bad habits, or do you think that a new pup would be able to be trained just as well with him still about? Cheers Dan
  8. You should ask ferretertom off here he is in north buckinghamshire if he has any kits left. I had a hob off him this year, very happy with it.
  9. The digestive systems of carnivores are too quick for lead to react and poison the animal, however animals like cows which have longer digestive systems it can cause problems. There are scientific papers looking into lead shot being collected in hay and siledge and causing problems.
  10. He means use the search tool on here, there are lots of topics that are similar that you can look at, with out waiting for all the same replies to come back to you.
  11. I tried breeding with both my Jills, they are sisters, one at the start of the season, and it had a phantom pregnancy along with all the other jills that the hob was with so I presumed that the hob was dud. I then bred with my other Jill with another hob, and she also had a phantom. Is this just chance ? Or could it be something to do with the jills? I thought it could be something to do with fertility of the jills, but maybe they wouldn't get a phantom pregnancy if they were infertile? Just wondered what people thought?
  12. Hi all, This may sound a bit stupid but I was interested to see if anyone uses hound types for anything other than the traditional sport they were bred for? For example I didn't know if they could be used for their nose to mark rabbit burrows? This is just a stab in the dark as I am not to well versed in working hound types. Will be interested for any replies though. Cheers Dan.

  17. My ferret has a tick between it toes on its hind paw, I have the tick remover that is recommended in the pinned post but I can't reach this tick. My question is does the spray for ticks also remove ticks that are present or does it just repel them?
