  3. The litter mate to yours looks like it has thrown to the whippet side slightly more,it could just be the angle the photo was taken, have you any more pictures of it ? Brenner gifted me the sister to my dog last month, which my buddy has , she is lighter , slightly , the dog Carrys a bigger head too. I'm still kicking myself having to pass her on, circumstances made it impossible for me to put in the time she deserves. No better men in the country to give her a fair try though. And at least I know where the breeding is if it works.your dog's looking good sully. If he get a chance, put up a pic o
  4. Working bred tightly bred on s.s dog. Out for a few bunnies last night this lad got between him and his bunny.
  5. I imagine your right. I was really talking about adding a working wheaten terrier into a line of straight Dutch shepards or g.s.d,s for protection work or sport. I know nothing about Shepards but I imagine they don't need that sort of mentality in the mix if u needed a level headed dog
  6. my mate was explaining to me that they can be crossed and the resulting offspring can be put on a database then once they've been crossed back a certain amount of times 2or3 can't remember exactly the pups can be registered as pure herders.A lot of the lines have a small amount of bull or/and mastiff blood in them. I wonder what would happen if a good strong working bred wheaten was introduced into a line. Mayhem , ide imagine. Lol
  7. He's looking sharp sully. Ye have him in good order.
  8. Mostwhippets will work rabbit. But the chances of getting an independent, head strong , stand there looking off into the distance while ferret is under. Shivery, nervous little dog that gives whippets a bad name, is greatly increased by buying any old whippet off d.deal.on other hand, and I'm not saying the whippet has to have a ped to back it up.. But if you know your pup is from a long line of workers, bred for speed, nose, intelligence, trainability, heart and just alround good work ethic.. Well ye see where I'm going with this. there are dogs that catch rabbits and then there are
  9. yeah I kept using up all me likes. It's a while since I read it but I don't think there was much " dick measuring " going on. A real eye opener for people interested in hunting with whippets. Fair play to all the lads that toolk the trouble to put up pics and video
  10. A pic of one of the other pups. Menace off this site owns. Has him in great nick.
  11. Worst case scenario is an exciting, game little f****r that will give you plenty of sport and the thrill of watching them punch way above their weight and do things people just don't expect to see from a dog that size and when and if they tick all boxes and are from blood on both sides that is known to produce. They are a very valuable asset to x into whatever suits if a bigger faster dog is what u need in future. This is as honest as I can be about the 1St x bullwhipits I bred. And the lads that got them had / have enough savvy to understand that much. I would never try tout them as the ul
  12. fair question. In my opinion. A first x bred from the right gear should be a handy sized companion for a terrier man. It should be able to smash and follow fox at speed through cover. In some cases.. They have been known to go to ground in big spots and hold game till dug too( admittedly not a good trait or a running dog enthusiast) but each their own. Can make a handy dog on lamp for rabbit and fox( not saying their are not better x,s for this), work thick cover and flush to rest of pack. A handy sized ferret dog that could also be brought out for some harder graft day or night. I suppos
  13. Me personally love the traits both breeds carry( game bred and tested p.b.t and working bred whippet)To me, a greyhound is, 1 step backwards to take many fast steps forward.i think it's fair to say.. It's the working bred animal the hound is bred to that carries many of the working traits needed for field work, whereas the whippet brings his own charms to the mix. And for most, that is a fair trade. I've said it before on here.. Nowhere in a greyhounds lineage will you find dogs bred for nose, intelligence trainability or heart . but the greyhound has speed prey drive and size to offer. A
  14. Tallywacker s got serious hangups bout bullxwhip,he cannot believe they do most tasks.h ell even tell you your dog isn't as tall as you state.tells us tallywacker how you been mentally scarred by these bullwhips.?Qbgrey Iv seen many of these bull/whips on a nite/day out after lads have bigged them up, and all were found wanting, but the worst of them I seen was direct out of jps Leo who was well know for being a bag of sh*t and is also the sire to yr own super dog.. LolI know you're not claiming to be an authority on bullxwhippets tally, but from this and previous posts, if you really have se
  15. Not one for pictures myself but there is a topic from a while back with some great action shots and pics. Search let's see them whippets coursing, racing, working. well worth a look
  16. No biters just facts , good and bad in everything , I've kept what people called ' great lines of collie lurchers' and they weren't so great at all , same as whippets , as I said good and bad in everything , just finding good lines and sticking to them , good dogs make there own name and I've seen plenty of people vouch for trevs whippet so must be a good animal , people keep what they like and what suits them , everybody has a different need for there type of Lurcher so by all means keep what you want but don't knock a dog that is half the size of most lurchers with twice the heart. there is
  17. the lads I was talking about earlier in topic that introduced me to Mikes stuff had litter mates to soul boy. Two of the best dogs I've seen to ferret and work cover and not afraid of teeth either.
  18. I think it was on this site I read the same question asked about s.s and someone replied that they had seen the dog go and rated him a good dog. I would say now that he is long gone and is of no use in the practical sence. The question now is... Was he a good producer? To be worthy of being bred so tightly into Mikes stuff.has he produced whippets that go above and beyond what is expected of a humble rabbit dog. Their is a pattern when you look at the pedigrees of Mikes stuff. It would be fair to say their is a science behind their breeding. Hats off to the man.people can slate the man for
  19. the dog in my avatar is out of dodger to a m.b bitch.that dodger has a clever bit of breeding behind him. It seems to work. From what I gather, he produces the goods. I know people will say if you mate a dog enough he is bound to throw a percentage of good dogs and you cant argue, but from what I can tell, he really is a good producer
  20. I know two brothers that have been around the block as far as lurchers and other working dogs go. They got in two whippets from Mike's yard and now that's all they will keep as runners. I wouldn't even consider looking at a whippet until friends of mine were telling me stories about these two little demons. I went out a couple of times with the lads and their whippets and I was sold after the first outing. As said earlier in thread.. the right ones need to be held back for their own good. I'm not saying that I personally only have the need for a whippet but these men are in the same boat as y
