  1. If she is not in season she will not get pregnant.
  2. Nice Have you noticed that it is the ones that don't own one that nock them?
  3. Too true. The same with falconry, they buy a BOP then ask the questions
  4. As I said above - if you prefer the ones you have then fine don't buy a European polecat. I do like them, thats why I bought them ATB Steve
  5. It is as simple as this - if you think they are too expensive and don't see the point in them, then don't buy them. After all no one has made it mandatory to buy them. I find lots of things in life and my hunting hobby too expensive and not needed or cheaper option that will do the job just as well. With the euro polecats people simple want to cross back into the wild side and hopefully get some wild hunting instinct into their strain, much like the wolf to the dog. Don't think you can buy a wolf or wolf cross for around £100 like you can a domestic hunting dog. Buy what you want and
  6. Different in which way? The domesticated ferret is an animal bred to do a specific job, and most bred from working stock will do it well. I can't see how any serious ferreter would want anything different to a good working ferret. My uncle kept pure polecats & their crosses when I was a kid for a while, he soon went back to normal ferrets.. These so called EU polecats are nothing more than the latest must have fad. Last few years it's been BEW's & silvers, now they're not so rare and not worth as much, these 'EU polecats' have appeared. In a few years time they'll be everywhere, g
  7. Tut tut tut you always get one. People prefer different ones due to their own experiences. Some are just more experienced than other lol . Im sorry but colour really doesnt matter to me, I have 2 albinos, a sandy and a polecat, the albinos are only 9 weeks so dont know how they will work yet but the other 2 are great workers. If they were silver, albinos..dyed purple.. Or whatever other colour they could be.. they would still be great workers, and about being able to see the ferret... How bad must your eyesight be to not see something moving around on the floor, even in thick bush i sti
  8. Tut tut tut you always get one. People prefer different ones due to their own experiences. Some are just more experienced than other lol .
  9. As most of the guys said above. Do not do any of the nasty stuff - just handle them. After all the aim is to get them to trust & like being handled by you.
  10. I use White ones when ferreting at night on golf courses. But I do like the euro polecats
  11. agree 100% Used poley's and albino's without a problem, the bird bate off at them at first but get a few kills under its belt over the ferrets and they soon know the score. Its a simple method of Holding onto the jesses if the ferret pops out first, before long they don't even bate at the ferrets. heard of a few people flying Harris's out of trees over ferrets , ok you can get away with it a few times but be fair to the Ferret who is working for you as a partnership and keep the bird on the glove Jasp I do fly the red off the glove most of the time but my female red is fine
  12. They are great workers if you know what your doing lol
  13. I have some for sale £20. PM if interested one hob & one Jill left
  14. I Use European polecats and they are excellent. All those above that are too tight to put their hand in their pocket for a decent working companion jog on. Do not knock him unles you have tried them!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have worked ferrets since I was in school and have albino as well & work them with hawks. The European make the best especially on rats.
  15. I am in Wrexham. I use ferrets including European polecats and lamp with the female red. Also have a Gyrsaker. Your welcome to tag along when the birds are out. Steve
  16. I also have my hawks free in tree or on a post. Although do keep a close eye out to ensure the ferrets are not harmed. Never had a problem.
  17. I use ferrets with redtails and Harris hawk. The hawks are fine with ferrets once they know that they flush the rabbits and socialised. I handle the ferrets with the hawk on glove as often as possible the hawk soon understands that they are not food. Well most of the time anyway lol. as said above - just need to be careful
  18. If it's ok can you pm me your number and I will give you a call
  19. I make them for £2.50 out of spun polyester. I am not fast but they are very good quality. Not with pegs. PM me if interested
  20. I am after a call bird mate. Where abouts are you?
  21. A very good read. I like foxes, even though I do keep the numbers down on my permissions. They are interesting animals. We should have respect for all our quarry - management not wipe out.
  22. I use a friends CZ 452 .22 and I have my own CZ452 HMR. I would not say one is more accurate than the other, although as said above the .22 is not as straight shooting. As for wind- I was out lamping in the recent winds (60 mph gusts) and dropping rabbits at 100yds. The wind did not affect my shooting except for the fact I had to shoot from the bipod because it was impossible to stand steady.
