  1. Couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke! A bit more insight here http://edlnews.co.uk/edl-news/the-tommy-robinson-beating-fiasco
  2. If you've seen Harris for £30 to £40 tell us where, I'm sure there'd be a few takers here!
  3. I don't think trousers are in season at the moment. Maybe try for a nice trophy hat or jumper? Sorry, someone had to say it!
  4. He's a good looking dog. No wonder the fat Rotty couldn't catch him! Is setting a dog on a fox even legal? (Wait for the lurcher boys to jump on that one!) I have a feeling he could get in trouble for sending the dog after it if LACS or their ilk see the footage. I'm afraid he would have got a good load of BB if he was around my chickens. He will certainly be back, and probably with others too, now he knows there's a food source there. Have to agree he looks like an urban fox, wonder if there's an aRSePCA centre nearby?
  5. You had that chrono'd boylo? If it's still on original spring and seals it's unlikely to be running enough power for serious bunny bashing!
  6. Second hand springer all the way, Weihrach, Air Arms or Theoben.
  7. No point having club membership if you're applying for a rifle for pest control. Any FEO who tries to insist you need club membership when you've demonstrated good reason to hold is on a hiding to nothing.
  8. Is there definitely air in it? Have you tried topping it up?
  9. Probably true, but you can't blame the lad for trying all avenues!
  10. For something really different, try crispy chilli venison. Use a decent haunch steak cut, or if you're feeling extravagant use the tenderloins. Cut the steaks very thinly, into strips, across the grain. Mix corn flour (corn starch in the colonies) with salt and pepper, and then coat the venison in the mixture. Heat some oil in a deep pan (I use a wok) until it just starts smoking, then carefully lower the meat in in small batches. You don't want to reduce the oil temperature too much. Cook each batch for a few seconds each, until they are crispy, then lift them out of the oil
  11. On the back of the croix there should be some dates, what are they?
  12. Playdo, can you put pics up of the rifle? I think I know what you are on about, and the fix is pretty simple, but would need to see a pic to check. If it is then it's a screw needs replacing and properly tightening and thread-locking. I have a few of the screws and can send you one if that turns out to be the issue. Post some pics up and we can have a look. I have an old Axsor Gemini, which hardly ever gets used. It's the two shot shuttle mag one, and shoots beautifully. Sadly she doesn't get used as much as I'd like, the LR comes out of the cabinet in preference, and I've not got any land
  13. Semi's are great for chucking large amounts of lead about, and are very good tools. The only real difference in performance between a semi and a bolt action is noise. The bolt action, using subs and a good mod, will be pretty much inaudible five yards away. The cycling of the action on the semi will make a certain amount of noise, which is audible (though not excessively so) I use an old Voere semi which cost £90, and can knock bunnies over at 70 yards with clean headshots every day.
  14. Of course you should really get her to put it in writing. An email is fine. That way you have some kind of defence when they try and prosecute you (though if it doesn't state LR on the ticket then I can't see the CPS going for it)
  15. For a .22LR, barrel wear is minimal, so buying second hand is far less risky than with cf rifles. I'd recommend a good second hand rifle over a new one, most RFD's have a good selection to buy from.
  16. I'm willing to bet they'll say that you can't hold a .22WMR on it. The legislation actually states that the certificate should state calibre, it says nothing about the individual chambering, and so in theory any FAC that states a particular cartridge (22-250, .222, .223, .220 swift etc.) is outwith the provisions of the law. The fact that police forces do put such restrictions on goes to show that they have little understanding of the law, and care even less.
  17. If the bullet is fired exactly vertically then it comes down to earth with terminal velocity... However... If it is fired at an angle, then the vertical speed is only a component of the overall velocity. The horizontal component isn't affected by gravity. The lower the angle, the higher the initial horizontal speed, and the more energy carried downrange!
  18. I'd say the best bit is his liver, served with a nice Chianti. Apparently he's a real music afficionado, shame his radio and TV shows are all about taking extremes and trying to whip up some kind of reaction.
  19. You'll not get me to agree on this one. There's nothing a 20 odd ft.lb air rifle will do that a 12 won't in a confined space. If a shot is unsafe with a .22LR, then it's not safe with an air rifle either, no matter what power level. A sub 12ft.lb will do the job, so use it at that power level and get something more useful on the FAC!
  20. Was that deer still sedated when he was kneeling next to it? If not it must have been seriously tired!
  21. Tony, ow! http://www.onlineconversion.com Perhaps the most useful site on the net, the only one I have been using pretty much constantly since I first had internet access!
  22. Were you canting that rifle, or was it just the camera not properly aligned to the crosshairs? Nice shooting anyway, and I can understand missing the tree climbing bunny, I'd be laughing too hard to make the shot too. That stew looks good, can imagine it disappeared pdq!
  23. Davy, I'm pretty sure she's too young for you! Agreed though, budget is the starting point, and then age/size, as some guns are lighter than others and strength can be an issue with the heavier guns.
