My best catch dog was a beardie/border x greyhound, Hancock's Taffy, bred to an extremely fast, greyhoundy lurcher bitch. Caught me loads of hare and deer, when I did a lot of lamping. Tremendously fast, powerful dog, but not great on the stamina. But definitely NOT the best lurcher I've owned to live with, c**t did my head in on a regular basis!! If he he wasn't so good at his designated work, I'd have outed him long before the 12 years I had him.

Hehehe, with all of this 'hullabaloo' about dubois and parker etc, I showed my Mrs quite a few clips of dubois' press conferences etc etc over the last 3 years. Her reply to me, 'should he be allowed to fight, he seems to be a bit backwards?' I have to agree with her. He's never without Frank Warren to speak for him.

Your best bet is to ring some breeders and explain the type you want, and ask if they, or any other breeder, will be producing that type. You'll get squat bull types, and leggy athletic types, up and down the country. Just a matter of doing a bit of homework. Good luck with it.
