  2. Sometimes the dog is just OUT-RIGHT a cull as it should be known that there are culls in just about every litter born while they may have excellent working siblings in the same litter. (Although the peddlers will tell you their killers produce nothing but hardcore workers and nothing less!) Very true, if a young one takes too much stick at a young or tender age it could ruin him/her. I have seen alot of people who had no buisness at all owning a working terrier (or any breed or type for that matter),they get good prospects from proven working parents that never put a bad foot forward, and they
  3. not talking about 1 cert dog iam talking about terriers in general, the years ive worked terriers never have i had 1 that couldnt find. ive had plenty that have failed for other reasons but not because they couldnt use their nose, from pups they are treated like 1 of the family not locked away til they are 14or 15 months, heard many say "that dog cant find" on a earth when they should be saying "doesnt want to find" just wanted some other views on this.
  4. your thoughts on dogs that are adults not pups, that are well entered below ground and have trouble finding, have they been socialised proberly as pups? ruined by entered to younng? so can they find or a case of dont want to find? your thoughts plz.

  6. dave harcombes most recent book "work them hard" is the best book ever written on terriers and i think he has lifted the bar too high for any other author to beat. its all you need to read to understand terrierwork and what is expected of them at the highest standard. congrats to dave.
  7. How many models of the collar have there been?Is it 3? Original, smaller version and rechargable version? just 2, the smaller one is the rechargable one, heard that they are bringing out a new type of box, more robust, its also gonna be rechargable like the collars.

  9. how many bitches did the dog line while he was there? if the anwser is one then i had two of these pups, two dogs, well built animals, one had a good hard coat the other had a linty grey coat. both pups started well but threw the towel in. just like daddy   just like daddy what u mean old man you forgot something "wise old man" Why is it whenever you post its always to crab someone elses dog.Im sure JC must have been a very good dog to have been with DF as long as he was as ive heard the man man likes to test a dog to the maximum

  18. i dug to cindy severl times with L A the lad who owned her, very very game bitch who took alot of stick which ended her career early, she then became a house dog and i was later surprised when she was sold to the lad who bred J Ps stanley. L A also had a dog called GRIP who when finished was passed on for only breeding from but belive the dog was worked, grip was also bred the same way, the two were peas from the same pod.
  19. yes deffo, the sad thing is these dogs should never be put in these situation on a regulal basis, earths need to be selected for the bigger dog,
  20. no, i didnt join just to reply to this thread, just thought it was a good thread to reply to, after your last post i totally agree with you don, no one can expect a over average size dog to get to where a smaller dog can. my point was these bigger dogs are a tool for a job and shouldnt slated for their size.
  21. i take it don you are a hunt terrierman and alot of your digging is in chailk an flint, which is why you require a selection of sized dogs?? so even your 11inch dogs sometimes are too big to get there early on in the season? what if you were not so lucky to be in the job you are, just like so many who are not intrested in digging cubs in aug, sept and oct but dig adult animals in the winter in proper earths, where 11 inch dogs are just pushed out the way. This is why up and down the country lads keep kennels of the so called "LUMPS" to do they're work. Also these LUMPS often are used to produce
