As much as I read these posts I don't know why...they always get me pissed off. If there's one thing I hate is folk basically calling for harsher penalties on BOP kills when really it makes no difference to there lives one bit. Let's take Baw....completely on the wind up but he has a natural dislike for keepers and pheasants. So what id like to see happen is for every keeper in Britain to let all BOPs live...let them reproduce like f**k. Let them take every rabbit, hare, pigeon, duck, garden bird they can.....if it then starts to be a problem for your 'sport' and you want something done abo

I hear that banded about by buzzard loving anti game shooters all the time. Any proof of that or just what your mate who did a bit of keepering on the big estate told you? Why on earth would a commercial game shoot effectively burn their profits by dumping saleable game produce? When with the demand for game and being a relatively large scale and regular producer of game they could sell to a dealer? Simply...... prove it.... On a shoot that I used to go beating on at the end of the day they used to say take what birds you want to anyone there.Then the JCB would dig a hole and bury

Don't be silly. i no of a commercial shoot that was setting up partridge drives in game crops with cages full of birds straight out of the rearing sheds and then making out they were beating while every now and then they would open a cage, letting a covey go over the guns!!!! every bird shot was burned as the were full of emtryl, before it was banned, so the birds werent fit for human consumpt

Yeah maybe not if your mooching about yourself. Can't see it lasting long on a big shoot day.

Probably has happened before....who knows the reasons. Plenty that would make sense anyway. Be better of looking it through the anti lenses though, makes a better story.

that's what iam saying, start of the season the owner of the shoot+ keeper, would work out how many birds there putting out or poults to rear . What ever the number 3000 - 6000 birds they got to know they will loose quite few to predators etc . And some shoots, guns are paying £ 8-10 grand full gun a season , last time was beating at few shoots most had 8-10 guns , so I reckon they could cover the cost of having extra birds they may need , that will be taken from predators , or as above killed on roads etc. Now to me lab , that's how a proper shoot should be run, if they trying to

Doubt there's any point in arguing about it mate. Canny raise your hand to a bairn now for whatever reason....you've now to stick them on a step until 'they' decide to come off it. Then you've to give them a sweetie for punishing them and take a good hard look at your parenting skills. Atleast this way all kids learn to respect others and this country runs like clockwork......bullshit!!

Of course wild animals are going to kill them. But like most of vermin you are allowed a form of control. That's all that's asked instead of having to break the law. It really is that simple. These threads are all the same....for some folk pheasant shooting is a toffs world when there's plenty at it working class lads who are just trying to make a living at it. Nobody will understand till it hits them in there own pocket.

Actually bird I've read your post again and I'm trying not to laugh. Could you tell me how the best keeper in the world could stop poult kills by bops with legal methods. I'm sure there's lots of lads on here that would love to know how it's done....cheers lol

So a man killing a bop should go to jail trying to protect his livelihood. I suppose a man running a hare should face the same then...surely that's worse as it's just for fun?? no lab, he should not go to jail, but his boss who pay his wages, + for a house,motor should have in (enough birds )or poults in the 1st place, to cover losses from all kinds of predators 4 legs+ feather . fact . in a nutshell there should have more than enough bird there, they know the law on there side regards 4 legged vermin to control, so both the keeper+boss have+are not doing there jobs proper when t

That's different though. If they are a threat to golden eagles they need controlled. As for the pheasant, the dumbest bird in existence, even the dodo wonders how its still going strong, they shouldn't be killed cos these stupid birds have no natural fear of anything. Any bird who thinks its safe to stand in the middle of the road next to 3 squashed relatives deserves everything it gets. I'm sure someone will be along shortly for a wee bite...??
