  1. Just be careful as some colour printing can have arsenic in it.
  2. Companions choice do their own version. Bigger bottle and cheaper. Not heard about the cancer scare but I wouldn't be surprised if there is a link. I know that vets are now more clued up on ferrets so more pepole them when are sick but I think there seems more and more cancers in ferrets. I personally think that the increase in the feeding of complete food has also got something to do with it. What do you think. Am I talking rubbish? Let me know.
  3. All I would like to say ALL knowledge is good no matter where comes from!!!
  4. Another American invention I bet. I saw some advertised for £200.00 And halves for £100.00 that is each. I think that they look like freaks.
  5. I agree with most post, leave them at home, can't a neighbour pop round to top up water when needed. It would be less stressful all around.
  6. I know this is an old post. I would like to say that I own 3/4 wild polecat hob and he is as tame as any ferret i have owned. I also have a 3/4 wild jill that is totally different in temperment from the hob she very shy and resents handling. Goes to show all animals are different.
  7. You could also use the black ridged pipe they use for drains it is very flexible and as it has ridges on the inside the ferret can grip it easy. Just drive around and I am sure you will find some!!
  8. Glad to see I have stirred up some interest. I just wanted to make the point that as has already been pointed out the colour does not matter. It just seems to me that the pure show fraternity (I use the word pure with caution) are trying to breed so many colour variations that we may loose sight of what the ferret is really all about a working/pet. I have also heard many old timers say that all these variations are diluting the real working instinct. I would just like to try a few variations to see if they are as good a working animal as the albino and polecat. Happy discussions
  9. Thanks for the advice and opinions. All I need now is someone who is willing to show me the ropes. I will keep the forum posted.
  10. If I could afford it I would buy a quad bike....for that matter if I had the money I would buy my own land and modify it to suite my needs. I can get the services of a dog for the purpose of picking up shot birds.
  11. I could sit in a normal chair but might have a slight problem with taking shots going over my head. I live in Wrotham nr sevenoaks.
  12. Can anyone help me? I am wheelchair user and I would like to do some pigeon shooting for sport and to help feed my ferrets. Can anyone give me any advice on how I would go about acheiving this aim. Would anyone be willing to take me out and show me the ropes? I live in kent.
  13. Hi Has anyone heard of someone in wheelchair being able to go wildfowling? I have been told that this is impossible I do not think this is so. Any comments would be appreciated. I live in kent.
  14. Hi does anyone know where I can get a black eyed white (i mean pure white not a light silver) jill kit from? I live in kent. I have been looking for a couple of years and cannot find one. Any help much appreciated. I am only interested in trying to get some of the more unsual colours into the working field, as there seems to be a split between the colours between pet/show and working animals which surely is wrong.
  15. As has been said a vasectomy is what is needed. Don't forget to wait at least 6 weeks before putting him with a jill as until then he is still fertile!! You could then offer his services to friend for a small fee (a win win situation). Hope all goes well
  16. Were you told how long to leave him before using him? If not then the vet is in the wrong. I have had one hob done was told to leave him on his for between 6 and 8 weeks.
  17. I also have had trouble with this company. I ordered 3 or 4 treble boxes for friends, sent the cheque and received nothing. After several emails the last of which he called me sarcastic for asking where the boxes were for the second or third time I demanded my money back and got it eventually. Would not use them again.
  18. This man is a complete moron. I have brought ferrets from him and the hob in particular is absolutely lovely.......he is regularly handled by children. The only reason he talks such rubbish is make him look big and hard........how sad is that!!!!!!!!!
  19. Does anyone have experience of working dark polecats ie those with a high percentage of wild blood? I have heard they are almost impossilbe to see and control, is also true they are too quick both in the burrow and when they surface. Any comments welcome.
  20. Just wondering how your ferret is. Also if i was given the oportunity to go out with someone and the art of ferreting I would jump at the chance, you could have gone along with aparent to start with!
  21. They are worth whatever you want to sell them for. Just because people are prepared to pay that kind of money it is no guarantee of a good home!!
