  1. your main problems are going to be if your dog starts working and misses then comes across a lamb or if he gets out on his own or if he is running with another dog, its not that hard to get him trained as hes walking by your side, you need to think about the sheep your walking with pretty stressful dont you think for them after what happend a few days ago. your dog can get better but i dont think will be 100% around sheep if your not there, good luck but dont get complacent. cheers
  2. be greatful ,live to hand is hard to come by
  3. nice looking dog ,good luck with sale
  4. hi 3 weeks old or poss 4 weeks to start depending on size of litter and how much milk the bitch has, i always start with a teaspoon sized amount of scrapped beef steak , dont forget to worm them at 2 weeks old ,4 weeks old and 6 weeks old and possibly 8 weeks old. i wont let a pup go until the day its 8 weeks old , they can be ready earlier but thats my preferance. beware of cows milk as it can give dogs the squits, at 4 weeks i stick the steak in a liquidiser with a small amount of the dried food and water and whizz it up the dried complete is presoaked at this stage. good luck
  5. i used to work in a fish factory and had raw herring fillets available, dogs loved it. i stll feed a tin of sardines or pilchards twice a week
  6. horses are unpredictable thats part of the fun
  7. nice one , i think there are more out there than we realise. cheers
  8. attached to the neighbours it should stop the complaining, sorry couldnt resist. the spray ones are not very good ,i used to sell them in the pet shop. the shock ones worry me when there is more than one dog ,could one standing right next to the other not set both collars off if they were both wearing them. most councils dont worry too much about dog noise in the day as long as the welfare of the animals is ok ie adequate water , space , light and ventilation . its barking at night that they take more seriously. in wales the option of electric collars has been taken away. good luck steve
  9. was this an escaped one did you manage to catch it
  10. i think i will try and put some smaller mesh around the bottom of the run as i too am worried she will take a liking to my own ferrets. she has caught a couple of big rats too in there. in some ways i am gld she has caught them as i have a few chickens that i free range in the day and i bow my hawk out . i have a couple of rat traps permanantly set around but have only caught rats in them. i will try and pick up some live catch ones and see how i go. i dont know if these are tame or wild as i havent found a live one yet but if i do get a live one i will try and keep it for use. cheers steve
  11. did he light the match himself or was it the man pouring the fuel i couldnt quite see. strange to see the police/army just allowing it , it seams the ultimate freedom of speech to me. i dont know if its one of the bravest things i have seen or the stupidest but definately thought provoking
  12. Do you live in a town or rural? That looks like a ferret rather than a polecat. There are wild populations, but not around in wales mate. Very wierd to get so many, all polecat looking? hi its a village with some woods nearby , not many wild rabbitts close, yes i agree with you its more ferret than polecat ive seen wild polecats dead on the road and once bolted a very dark ferret or polecat from a warren but all these are of a similar colour ,one was quite alot lighter than this one . this boy was a bit scarred up and his coat a bit scraggy but otherwise in good condition , i c
  13. now thats a royal kiss on the balcony
  14. pretty unbelievable worth seeing though
  15. How many ferrets do you think are living in the wild, i ask this as over the last 4 months my lurcher has killed five in her kennel and run , three hobs and two gills, i dont know why they all go in there as my ferrets are bout 30 yards from her. she is ok with my ferrets when we go out but does not tolerate these feral ones at all. This last one was quite a big hob 1.3kg about 3 lbs
  16. maybe an extra outing on the lamp in the week
  17. 4 choices , take the dog to work with you, get a home near your mums so she can either have the dog for you during the day or nip around and take it out for an hour in the day. get a dog walker or a mate to take the dog out in the day get a new bird to move in who only works part time to pay for herself and she can look after your dog when you are not there cheers and good luck you sound like your going to do the right thing for you and the dog

  20. nice looking dog with honest description ,good luck and sorry to hear of your loss
  21. gastro enteritis, possibly , usually down to weaning too early or incorrectly, as i dont know the full story its only a guess, you have to break the cycle , the runs strip the mucus from the lining of the guts and bowel then this leads to bleeding . could be an infection also ,the vet will be able to check a stool sample and may need antibiotics but these can also destroy the good bacteria in the gut and exacerbate the problem. if any of my pups have had this i starve them for a day and in the evening give a hard boiled egg with a couple of tablesppons of live yoghurt mashed together. the nex
