  1. Shooting them is a smart move - the above two posts are varying levels of stupidity.
  2. I think you completely miss-read or miss-understood what i initially posted. I said that 'hunting' with an air rifle (i.e i the form of daytime stalking / static shooting) was in reality a poor form of pest control, and i actually said that it was an efficient tool for 'shooting', i.e lamping. I also NEVER EVER suggested that i hadn't killed that many bunnies, in fact i don't think i mentioned my own shooting/hunting/pest control whatsoever, did i? "Dont knock what can be done guys just because your never going to get the chance to do it for yourself."  W
  3. My patt bitch is kennelled with a 3/8 5/8 bull dog and there mint together I am splitting them up soon but I think your problems only lie when food is concerned Atb digginmad I know what your saying mate and many dogs are kept together fine, but then again, many dogs that have been kept together for years, one day ruck. It's usually the terrier that starts it and the lurcher that finishes it. Not worth the risk imo.
  4. Maybe that's because you can't educate pork .............................Good look with your packs of wild hounds So out of twenty replies saying the same thing, i'm the one with the wild hounds? Maybe one day if i reach the dizzying heights of your dog training standards this will change. But to be fair, what a stupid comment. Now be a good wee boy, and go play with traffic. The second part of my reply wasn't aimed at just you. Just because something is hard it doesn't mean it can't be done. Some dog's can't be trained to the same standard as others no matter
  5. And i'll add - never kennel a terrier and lurcher permanently together. ONe day you will wake up to a dead terrier.
  6. I know what your saying mate, and with ANY living thing, there will be exceptions, no hard and fast rule. I think there will be some lurchers that you could call off, but i think most of tose would have a healthy dose of herding blood in them, and then i think it would be very situational, rather than a sure thing. Now spaniels are a million miles away, and like you said it's due to training. The spaniels we have had here, could flush 1000 rabbits, and never take one half inch step forward in their pursuit, once flushed. They hunted with precision, at a set distance in front and to each si
  7. If you have to do it you have to do it, but you will find young and sticky does, and it will be a hassle. Your best finding another method.
  8. Totally dissagre with you bud, I shot on a ground a while back that had been shot on and ferreted for years. Between 2 of us we had over 2,500 rabbits in 2 months all shot with air rifle. I am lucky to get 5 in an evening now. So i would say pest control is done regular by many with air rifles who care to put the time in. I love an evening out even if i dont shoot anything all the same. 2500 rabbits over 62 days between 2 people so 20 odd rabbits a day, every day for 2 months solid, wow the rabbits must have been very thick not to get wise to 2 shooters giving them such a bashing

I think you missed my point mate. All i was saying is that for most s
  12. I enjoy tying, but i must admit my efforts are pretty poor, my father was and still is on occasion a bit of a dab hand. When it comes to rivers i don't think you can beat natural and traditional materials, but when it comes to stocked still waters, the new materials really do have their place, i have some horrible bright blobs, and dawl bachs tied with some mad fluro shit, and beeded buzzers etc and when fishing for stockies quickly, i.e in a comp, they are lethal. But not much fun. So far this season i have mainly been using two size 18 buzzers, one black and green and one red and orange,
  13. Your my new hero Cheers mate, it's nice to be somebodys, even if they are scottish
  14. I wonder if it goes to ground? Would scare the shit out of your average mole i bet
  15. Aye, i got one of most colors be pure accident out of the same lines. Same blood, same work ethic, different jacket.
  16. Bitches. . . . . they go better with ma bling and ma gat Fo shoo
  17. It's like the hannibal lecter of pugs
  18. Sounds like you take what you need mate. Apart from a good marking dog. Baw - send me your postal and i'll send you a couple so you know what they look like.
  19. Them's some serious rabbits we got in wales, f**k you right up, i tell you
  20. You only take the one ferret mate? I said that's the lightest i go - if i'm just off for a stroll with the mutt and the missus for an hour. But the ferret i take i would happily do a 20 odd holer, maybe a bit more and she'd get it done, but i usually just stick to small sets. If i was planning on doing anything decent sized i'd take a few. Heaviest i travel would usually be - 100 or so purse nets poke / stop nets 3 dogs 6/8 ferrets. locator and collars spare locator selection of knives couple of spades Bar Secateurs Petrol strimmer couple of shotguns game carriers
  21. Oh right, sorry, it sounded like someones badly made up attempt. Which color is best? And then a list with only 1 color and a body type? Doesn't really sound like a genuine enquiry. You irish people are mad, i've heard jills called does, sandys called cinnamons, albinos called greyhounds? Not knocking you, but your all crazy.
  22. Alright i would guess that if you had been working ferrets you would know about albino colored ones, maybe just me, sorry.
  23. Depends how and where and what your ferreting. How longs a piece of string. Lightest i go is - 1 ferret. 1 collar. 1 locator. Spare bats. 1 dog. 1 mini spade. Dozen nets. 1 very sharp mora / opinel knife. 1 bottle of water. 1 box for ferret Sometimes i leave the nets at home.
  24. It's really nice that this time round a load of folk have not come out swearing that it's possible and only good training etc. Aye there are times when it would be handy. . . . but can i feck.
