We call in most of the predators and shoot them before letting the dog loose. We use the dog as a blood trailer for predators and several other species - since the bobcat in the picture she has caught or treed several wounded Grey Fox and a couple of other bobcat's - she knows to stay out of reach from the bobcats and she is more than a match for a Grey Fox. We have also trained her to blood-trail deer - We archery hunt for deer and Elk , when you shoot an animal with a razor tip / broad-head arrow the animal bleeds to death and can sometimes run leaving a hard to find trail. A dog trained to b

Yes that is my Jack Russel she loves to go hunting - I see you have a Fox Pro add on your page - do you do some wildlife calling.... I use a Wildlife Technologies caller have you ever heard one? SGS

I don't know what you call Carp over there in the UK - we have loads of them in the rivers and lakes and nobody (except some black folk) fish for them and if they catch one by accident then they throw it back or kill it for the buzzard's the myth being they are not good eating - just a trash fish. I tried some at a get togther a black guy deep fried some Carp - it was pretty good. I believe the same myth about Jackrabbits not being edible was started by the same person. Antelope Jacks occur above a certain elevation 5000ft--- They live on the high prairie's and are slightly taller with longer

This is a pic of a Lion I shot in October 2008 I usually carry a .243 and a 12guage when I am predator calling make a guess as to what I shot this Lion with .243 or 12guage#4buck. http://i1021.photobu...er/HPIM0521.jpg Thanks SGS

Yes they can run like the wind. Sometimes my .22 rifle shooting is a bit off, so it slow's the Jacks down just enough so Duce can catch them it's quite a show to see her latched on to a live one almost her size.... The Jackrabbits are technically Hares , related to our Snowshoe Hare. Most hunter's don't eat Jackrabbit - Last fall I filleted the back-straps off a big Jack and grilled them for Duce I tried a taste it was ok - not as good as a cottontail rabbit. Thanks for the reply SGS8)

We call them Jack Russel's you have a nice looking dog there.
-
OK I will admit it before I get in trouble that is what's called a perspective photo - I was about 10 foot behind the rabbit on the rock, with Duce so the rabbit looks much larger then it actually is! A big Jackrabbit is about 7lbs and with their ears up they hit about nee high or a little more. Here is another pic of Duce and I with a Grey Fox - Grey Fox are 1/2 the size of your Red Fox - a big Grey Fox is 12pounds maybe 15. http://i1021.photobu...anDuceFox-1.jpg Thanks for the reply SGS

That was an exceptionally large bobcat usually they are around 25lbs. The most common animal to come to the call are grey fox's. These fox are about 10 to 15 lbs. Duce really loves to go after grey fox and has caught or treed several wounded fox. The grey fox will go up a tree like a cat.

We shoot jackrabbits like this for the dog to get after she loves to finish them off if there is any kick left when she get's to them. There is no limit on these jackrabbits and the season is open year round. http://i1021.photobucket.com/albums/af340/sgshunter/HPIM0820.jpg Just thought you folks might want a look at some Arizona rabbits...... Here is a picture of Duce's first cat - she was about 7 months old. We went out calling in the mountains for the weekend it was my birthday. On the second call session this fine mountain bobcat came sneeking in. Duce did not notice the cat at first as she was watching some bluejays (birds) up in a tree next to us. When she saw the cat moving towards the call she launched out of my jacket before I could get hold of her. The cat was dumbfounded by the little dog at first but turned the table and gave chase to Duce. Duce hauled ass straight back at me with the cat right behind. When I stood up

OK here it is I learned how to post a pic and had a short training session with Duce so I could get you a picture. http://i1021.photobu...er/HPIM1158.jpg The antler is a shed she found this past winter - the squirrel's chew the antlers for calcium this shed had been laying for about 9 months when she found it. Thanks SGS

First picture post...

We called that coyote in with a Wildlife Technologies electronic caller and I shot it with a .243 at about 150yards. There are some government hunters who practice denning techniques to get coyote pup. They sometimes dig. We take Duce with us when we go calling, she jumps into our jackets and waits patiently for a critter to to come into the call - Sometimes she see's, hears or smells the critters before we do. Once we shoot I let her find/bloodtrail the animals - she loves to go after the grey fox. I will post some more pic's if you like.... -

I must admit I have been sluggish on learnnig how to post pictures on here, when I first signed up I made a few efforts and have sort of given up. I know that you must have a site set up to down load the pics from and then type in the proper command sequence...... It never worked out. It's a shame - I would gladly post many of my field picture for all to view. Any help would be aprieciated..... Thanks for the reply SGS8)

This is the time of year that the deer and elk shed/molt their antlers in Arizona. Buyers pay $7 to $9 per pound for fresh shed's. I saw a video about a Labrador Retriever trained to find antlers, so last year I started training my Jack Russel to find antlers. I started out with throwing a small antler for her to retrieve then we would hide anlters for her to find - allways rewarding her well for finding the hidden antlers. Last winter while on predator hunts she found antlers on two occasions - one was a size-able antler and it was humorous to see the small dog with large antler in her mout

The illegal "imigrants" in the USA are going back to Mexico and points south because there are no job's for them and some states have cut off welfare (govt assistance) as well. Our liberals are still trying to keep them and make them legal through legislated amnesty - liberals want the votes. This is why it is so important to vote. We have a saying - "Vote now or fight later!"SGS

A hilarious song about a serious problem. We have a few songs about the illegal aliens from south of the border. (Mexico) Thanks for the laugh - SGS :clapper:

Now that predator season is over I have other activities planned for outing's one of these is shed antler hunting - I started Duce (my JRT) out as a pup playing with shed antlers , retrieving thrown shed's and finding hidden shed's. She has found a few out in the back country this last winter during predator hunts..... Now it is spring and the snakes are coming out in the lower elevations. The rattlers pose a problem and I don't want to lose my dog to a viper bite. So I ventured out yesterday afternoon to capature a rattle snake and was unsuccessful - we had a very rainy winter and the deser

Global Warming Nobel Peace prze rescinded.
SHOTGUNSNIPER replied to SHOTGUNSNIPER's topic in General Talk
IT'S APRIL 1 HERE ...... -
In an unprecedented move Wednesday, the Norwegian Nobel Committee rescinded the Peace Prize it awarded in 2007 to former US vice president Al Gore and the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, amid overwhelming evidence that global warming is an elaborate hoax cooked up by Mr. Gore. A press release from the committee quotes a chagrined Rajendra Pachauri, the UN climate panel's chair, who claims that he was the victim of a "cunning deception spanning decades": "I am deeply ashamed for having unwittingly perpetuated such a massive fraud on the governments of the
