  2. i think im shooting too late/early and im not sure about the distance. i pace 30-40 spaces from the hide, what distance it that? I could only shoot and hit birds landing, but yesterday i was shooting them while in flight. i would only hit them in a open ( 5 nicks) choke, but now im hitting them with the 3/4 choke ( 4 nicks)
  3. Hi everyone Im new to the shooting scene, ive been using guns since 98 when i was in the forces. i went out yesterday and had a great day on the pea's. The birds was coming in all thick and fast all day and went set up with 75 cart's. i used the magnet for a while and realised that it was scaring the birds, so i put that away. 5 hours later i ran out of cart's. BUT i only hit 9!!!!!!! birds 4 got away and 5 landed. So i now know that i need help. 75 carts to 9 birds is shamefull. Does anybody know a good shooting coach near Grays, Essex?? HELP PLEASE chris
  4. ive tried the uv pen, but to no luck
  5. After much thought, i will trap the cats in a live trap i have, i will then stand there with the hose and give them a good soak. i feel that this is the best course of action. the cat gets the s@^t scared out of it and hope that it wont return. If that dont work i will remove the cats from the area and hand them in to a cat rehoming centre.
  6. But foxes are wild animals so im more willing to put up with them, cats are pets !!
  7. Ive seen some very interesting comments, some i would not do, others i could do, and other is will try. As to the owners rights, well i dont care, they would not like it if me or my dog ( if i had one) was to shit in their garden every night so f**k them. i remember a subject reported in the bbc radio 2 show that a neigbours cat was eaten by a large snake sunning itslef in the back garden. the owner of the snake was not arrested as the cat had gone in to the snakes garden and wanted to eat the snake, but the snake wanted some lunch and beat the cat to it http://www.telegraph.co.uk/ne
  8. Good idea Steve, they look good too, but there is only one way to find out? ive got one of these myself and then just borught a magnet also. humm i may use that idea
  9. Thanks for the advice so far, some i will ignore others i will take on board. i know what cats do it and i know where their owner lives, one is my next door neigbour ( but she insists that HER cat dont shit in my garden ) and they other owner is unapporchable as she is my ex., i cant have a dog as ive not got the room for one and i feel it will be wrong to have a dog when ive not got the space it needs. they sh£^ in the front garden mainly, ive tired those green gel stuff, but will try again tho. Thanks for the replies. chris
  10. Hi all Im in need of some advice, In my road there is a cat problem, the little f keep using my garden as a toilet, ive managed to scare most of the cats away, however there seems to be 2 little that still use my garden of a night time, these ones watch my hens as they lick their lips, steal food from the larsen trap and attack my magpie when i have one. Im very tempted to use my 12 g on them, but i dont want to lose my Shotgun licence. HELP international rescue

  12. woodys nest all year round to be honest that is the first i have heard of that,if so why do we not see youngsters all year round. im just going on what i was told by a former police officer who had dealings with wildlife
  13. May i be a party pooper, i attended a talk late last year from a former essex police wildlife officer. under the wildlife / countryside act. is is against the law to shoot or destroy any nest that is in use. And i remember him stating that woodies nest all year round . Im sure this must be somewhere in the net for all to read. chris
