  9. I was thinking of drilling five or six holes along the tang then countrysinking the new handle and using a ballpean hammer to rivet the handle on with nails! I dont think i've got any way to heat the tang either, no gas burner or torch sadly It aint got to be pretty its just got to work, the more I look into it though the more i'm starting to think I should just throw some leccy tape on there and make do with that

I'm pretty good with wood work, make my own net needles, spoons, bowls, wooden stools ect, but have never re-handled a knife before so i'm look
  13. From my experience of SMK's you get good and bad with them but you will be very lucky to get a goodun, just ring them and tell them you have changed your mind and want to cancel the order, you might lose your £20 but you will get the money for the rifle back then go and have a look round the local gun shops for a decent 2nd hand rifle, if you take folding money and say "i've got X ammount, what kind of deal can you do" and dont be scared to haggle and shop around you will get something ten times better than the SMK. As for lead poisoning, no you will be fine, you only get lead poisoning if
  14. Nice pelt that, would look good on the wall
  15. Is this true?, I'm about to do my DSC1 in the new year but have no intention of doing level two, if it expires after a few years whats the point in doing it in the first place??? Cheers Hyperion

  17. I get pins and needles really badly after doing heavy manual work, digging ect, friend of mine showed me a little trick, "start with your thumb and then each finger in turn, relax your hand, hold the finger firmly upto the 2nd joint and give it a 'flick' up and down and around and pull it a bit till it clicks... make sure you keep your hand and wrist relaxed, do this on each finger till it clicks... then do your wrist and elbow..." Her words not mine, it helps me and gets rid of the pins and needles pretty quick so works as far as I know

    badgers

Thing is the government line is that TB jabs for cattle are too expensive and there is the possibility of cattle developing TB if they have the jab!, how they figure that out I dont know!! Fact is that there are so many badgers in the country now that people are starting to notice the damage they do, even the conservation bodies!, though I till find it hard to understand why every one is encouraged to go out and shoot as many deer as possible by the government yet they wont let people give a few badgers the good news even though the stripey little buggers are probably doing more damage to

    badgers

They are a nightmare! pre 73 bovine TB was almost none existent in the UK! Badger numbers didn't crash because of hunting or digging ect but because of dieldrin and other chlorinated hydrocarbon pesticides

    badgers

Yes it will happen! hopefully! People are starting to wake up to the damage that badgers do to the countryside as well as the spread of TB! at the 1984-6 badger survey there were 50 thousand main setts, in 1997 there were 344,000 main setts!!!!!!!!! thats more than a 75% population growth in 10 years and that data is well out of date now! there are more badgers in the UK than there are foxes!!! They are over protected, hughly over populated and need to be controled, they have a massive impact on hedgehogs, ground nesting birds, woodlands, crops, dormice AND spread TB! All legal
  21. Why does the mersey run through the wirral?? Cos it would get mugged if it walked!!
  22. Just bought a pair of Berghaus explored ridge ankle boots for £130 nice and light and had them a day now and they haven't fallen apart yet! :D not sure how long they will last mind! Had a pair of Brasher anle boots a couple of years back that were really good but only lasted the one season but they were only around £65 but were pretty good for the money.
