  1. not bieng funny mate but its also illegal to lamp hares with dogs but i seem to remember a pic of you somwere hare in hand sat next to a whippet ? if so i think you should think again about putting pics like that up then stating whats illegal and whats not. p.s i know duck are out of season i visited the area to shoot some geese. atb fitchet

  3. hi all ive just got a quick qestion for a year now ive had some good permission for ducks with an air rifle but as the place had alot of dog walkers i had to go about it discreetley ie.shooting at night.ive just got some new permission for duck and geese but the duck here seem to roos in trees ? on the old permission the just stayed on the pond ? so were do duck normally roost ? in trees or on water
  4. hi all thanks for all the help and advice we managed 7 pigeons 2 rooks and a squrriel ferrets have got the squrriel friend has the rock for pie and im goin to pluck my pegions in a bit thanks to all who replyed. p.s if any one has any spare decoys for sale id be really gratefull if they could contact me.cheers fitchet

  6. my dogs always catch feather even my terriers when im out with the air rifle i take a dog for any wounded geese or duck.and i took my lurcher beating when he was a pup and cought a few partridge and a couple of pheasants.the keeper was not amused
  7. hi all having to give up the ferreting lark for a while as i cant be doing longnetting lamping ferreting shooting snaring on places were there arnt too many rabbits still going to do it now and again though.ive got a mk1 box 8ft with 8ft coller the cap is missing.with two of the old nylon mk3 locater collers £120 o.n.o.
  8. hi all ive got a titon bearcat in 177 with silencer and scope and in mint condition can anyone tell me if there any good ? if so how much is it worth ? i bought the gun but never used it and might have to sell it soon when i get another lurcher pup
  9. hi all dont want these to be a slanging match but do many people rat using ferrets ? its just that most lads i talk to dont becouse they dont want there ferret to get bitten :laugh:i ferret alot of rats and yes the ferrets do get bitten but ive seen rabbits injure ferrets. but half the time i think its becouse they cant break there terriers into ferrets
  10. i regurley ferret an orcherd for both rabbits and rats using dogs and ferrets with the rabbits we dont get big bags but consistent ones but the amount of rats is unbielivable we bolt them using ferret while my uncles terriers do the biz while i wait around with the .410 shooting the ones that climb trees. we have never had a bag under 50 rats. somtimes when i need some ferret grub i sneak around with .410 and dog and bag a few woodies.very good places for sport in my opinion

  13. depends what im using with just dogs i get about 3-5 if using purse nets and long nets about6-10

  15. cheers mate these are rabbit proof fenced places and ive had a couple of hares of here before with me old lurcher.he is very well trained and obediant and grew up bushing and using his nose and done well in the beating line when he was younger so no probs there the only problem is i longnet/gatenet at night alone usually any other tactics ?
  16. hi lads n lasses ive been thinking for a long time about training my rabbiting dog for gate netting he is a good ferreting dog and respects the longnet and i have been offerd a good price for netted hares so how do you train a dog to sweep a field of game ? i tried him befre and he managed to to get 3 rabbits but since that zilch can anyone help
  17. talking to a couple of the coursing lads the other day about overshooting and rietriving and one of em said that were his saluki/grey is quite big he found it hard to go down to there level and it looked like he was over shooting somthing to think about perhaps .....

  20. ive got a mk3 and mk1 and i find that once you know how to use mk3 its much better and accurate
  21. nice shot mate alot of foxes about at the mn a few weeks back managed to sqeak one right in close and if it wernt for the ban dogs would have mullerd him lol good shooting all the same atb
