hi mate i use my lurcher for longnetting\gatenetting and the way i trained was i got him out ferreting with the longnet dring the day and every time a rabbit hit the net i would despatch it and tell to get on\leave it and he would carry on hunting up\go back to the bury and this seemed to work. you need a dog that is goig too respect the net and not stay with that rabbit i only really use him for gate netting now as a dog is essential for that

good man.the interest ive had is gob smacking.ive got a good judge for both rings.both are loyal to their working dogs and will NOT be judging the owner.proper judges at a proper working terrier show.

Has anybody been saved by thier lurcher

although my lurcher has never bitten anyone when i was younger my mum went to give aslap for something as she raised her hand my lurcher came steaming in hackles up and a really low growl my mum threatened to get rid of him but she never did. i think my dogs really saved me though when i was younger i was a little shite allways getting into trouble with the police and fighting in the street if it wernt for my dogs then i know i would have ended up at borstal .dogs aye wer would we be without em -
am no expert mate.defo invest in a locator deben mk1 easy to use an reliabel but not cheep but it a must have 4 terrier work.a good strong roundmouth shuvel and a good grafta spade .and a strong bar not 2 heavy to carry. some nets but the main thing a good terrier.good look mate cheers mate ive bought a mk3 long range terrier finder and have also bought a bulldog round mouth spade.any thing else ?

i personally wouldnt if there not cousing a problem but if they are then find the runs and put the wires out on them.

hi all i dont want too offend any one by making this thread but can anyone help me out my uncle has a few ratting terriersbut one of his patterdale pups that i take out with the lurchers she has had a few rats and a stoat :sick: i took her out a fortnight ago she was in some bramble beds and a foxgot up. luckily my lurcher didnt catch it but ran it to ground i managed to grab izzy (the terrier) and clip a lead on her she was pulling and yapping on the scent when we got too the earth i let her go down as far as her lead would allow. i took her back to my uncles house and told him about it an

hi all just a qestion about fac rifles im thinking of getting one to shoot rabbit geese and duck but also pigeon and squrriels out of trees is it worth getting one as obviously you need to have a good backstop can anyone advise me on the best foot per lb for this and also what make of gun cheers

i have a hancock dog and so has a friend mine is a fecking good ferreting dog when he says theres somthing there its there and my mates dog is a good allrounder but is especially good at taking feather walk him round the edge of a shoot and youll deffo come back with dinner !!! i think its the owners that ruins a dog

ive got a litter of my black eyed white comming soon if anyone wants any pm me im not into selling older ferrets asthey are just as important as my dogs once you get a goodun that does what you want and your happy with it why sell it ?

never heard of that before you probabley killed the mother anyway mate. strangest thing thats happened to me when ferreting is when we dug down to one f our hobs and he was on a a dead rabbit ad abit further down the pipe was a kitten took it home and gave it to a friend

i think its the same as any pest mate aslong as you have permission we used to let our irish staffy catch them in the old quarries
