  1. Hi guys will shortly be selling a quality scope for a stalking/foxing rifle, its a swedish reitz,3-12x56 30mm tube, german reticle, nice clear optics, ideal for someone wanting a decent scope for a cf rifle to get them going without spending a fortune, its made by interaims sweden, only reason im selling it is cos father xmas is bringing me a new scope for the .243its near mint and ive shot lots of deer and charlies with it,sorry no pictures as my camera is bust, but you wont be dissapointed with it, they retail for about 329 euros in sweden so 270 quid ish,im asking 80quid post paid, ring me on 0782
  2. my buddy the seeker says v good rifle, and they are, but the trigger is aweful.I had toy guns as a kid with better triggers, but you can change them for not a lot of dosh well worth doing,or of course you could always forget it and buy an anschutz, the best .22 out there.
  3. HI mate ive just put a pes t12 on my .243 after being so impressed with pes on my .22 hornet, they are 275 quid new i was lucky and found one in a local shop second hand for 140 so was a bargain, they are stainless steel so wont rot out,has tamed the report on my .243 so well that it sounds about the same as the hornet i am very impressed with it,dont think you will go wrong if you shell out for one. cheers charlie caller
  4. Howdy mate good on you for asking all the right questions and not just diving in like some idiots,I agree a redtail is a very nice bird and immensly powerfull but in the wrong hands can be a nasty accident waiting to happen, however dont be fooled into thinking all harris hawks are a pushover cos there not,my female for instance can be a right sod and no way would I let her anywhere near a novice, you will probably find it more difficult to get your redtail going than you would a harris and spend quite some time under trees trying to coax it down, but of course they are all different and som
  5. HI, I use a cz 527 hornet and reload my own ammo, which to be honest mate is the secret of getting the most out of a hornet,12.3 grains of h110 under a 35 grain vmax will cloverleaf at 100 yards in my rifle, and ive shot foxes at well over 160yds stone dead and crows at 200 plus, also its pretty quiet for a cf with a good mod fitted mines a pes/mae 8 inch small cf mod, factory ammo is expensive and apart from hornady, not brilliant, you deffo wont be disappointed with a hornet mate and most people who have em love em and wouldent part with em, good hunting
  6. Cheers mate, makes me feel loads better but I do wish people wouldent say 3-5 days delivery when they mean months cheers CHARLIE CALLER
  7. I guess lots of you have seen hunter catapults advertised on here,my question is has anyone bought one?I ordered one on jan 7th and still havent got it yet, despite them saying 3-5 days delivery and I have not received a reply to my 3 emails,HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM,anyone had any experiences good or bad? cheers CHARLIE CALLER
  8. Maybe its not myxy it could be VHD viral hemoraghic disease, but Im from syorks and never seen it round here but you never know i suppose? I hope not its worse than bloody myxy,my old lurcher got one or two with it down in cheshire a few years ago,and it was like handling a living skeleton, horrible  CHARLIE CALLER
  9. Try this its called normandy rabbit, cut your bunny in half then partboil for 30 mins, remove and allow to cool, strip meat from bones, brown for about 5-10 mins in a little olive oil and 4 cloves of garlic crushed, then add 2-3 tbl spoons of tomato puree and brown for a further 5 mins, then add half a pint of dry cider, and simmer for about 5-7 mins, goes well with mash and veg with a little parsley on top,or rice and peas, try it mate its absolutely gorgeous, works well with squirrel too enjoy CHARLIE CALLER
  10. Howdy mate,if you go for the .22 first remember the damn things ricochet very badly if your not very careful and often even if you are,the hmr round is a much safer bet as it will simply fragment if it hits a rock ect, just something to consider before making a decision,if you head shoot them then meat damage is no problem, something you should do easily out to 150yds off a bipod ect,get as much lead into the air as you can mate with your shotgun, loads of practice is what you want, whatever you choose mate I wish you warm barells and a full bag, cheers must go the roe steak my other half is cookin
  11. I agree you should ask your host and abide by the rules, however semis are just as safe as any other gun, they all kill if handled carelessly, and lets not forget all single trigger sbs and o/u shotguns are all semi auto arent they?bet you lots of the big top end shoots would allow a man paying thousands a year to shoot with a semi if he needed a gun with no recoil on say health grounds, but im going to get a hammer sbs for the odd bit of driven I do as I only have a semi at the moment, and I do like the look of a sbs better on such a day,but whatever you use think safety all the time an youll be f
  12. Totally agree with all the above comments mate, its a big commitment, you should try to get as much experience as you can,if you dont know anyone close to you to take you out, then go on a course and read, watch dvds ect as much as possible, put the work in mate its worth it,an hats off to you mate for not jumping in feet first as some do,and then either losing or killing the bird, too many idiots with little or no knowledge get their hands on birds these days im afraid, good luck with it mate and keep us updated on how its going CHARLIE CALLER
  13. For any of you fellow pagan hunters out there solstace greetings to you all, best wishes Charlie Caller
  14. Well if you keep the lamp on the bunny you iluminate the area too, however you try to fly on as open an area as you can though, also most hhs will land on the ground as soon as the beam is off so not too much risk involved, when has lamping dog , bird ect ever been risk free????? ive seen some nasty injuries on lurchers over the years, gladly never mine though, lucky I guess CHARLIE CALLER
  15. The little un everytime mate, flatter faster and kills better in my humble opinion CHARLIE CALLER
  16. Hi mate, you wont be disapointed with the hornet,I use a bog standard 527 cz pes mod and I reload35 grn vmax, flattens charlie out to 200yds and will cloverleaf at 100 yds,if you have a look on stalking directory theres a yank on there called muir and hes a real hornet nut and regularly shoots prarie dogs at 300yds plus, nuff said I think, have fun CHARLIE CALLER
  17. Yep its always a good feeling when you get one in the daytime, ive had quite a few this year soon as a nice still sunny afternoon comes around, out comes the rifle cos old charlies never far away on days like that, and yes it is really nice to have your efforts apreciated. CHARLIE CALLER

  20. Dident find it a problem mate, cant imagine the bird could block the light completly? I was using a clulite lamp and they do have quite a wide beam, wonder if anyone else has experienced any difficulty?one thing I do know is that when people say there eyesight is not much better than ours at night that is complete rubbish, she can see stuff that I cant,in complete darkness and ive got good night vision,so cant see the blocking being a problem really, but thats just my limited experience lamping with a hh but ive been lamping with dogs an rifles for years, will be interested to hear others comments
  21. HI mate ive been doing quite a bit of recall work and feeding her under the headtorch,I honestly cant beleive how well she took to it,she was totally switched on and focusing on the beam constantly, she was a tiny bit footy but thats usual for her, shes a big agressive bugger, but I dident notice any difference to be honest,I put her weight up 1/4 of an ounce and it seemed to make her keener than ever if thats possible with my bird!!!!!,I CAN RECOMEND MAKING SOME REFLECTIVE JESSES THOUGH,just get some from a safety jacket cut out like normal mews jesses without the slit of course and punch and p
  22. Howdy all, finally plucked up the courage to lamp with my fhh, went out this evening, sunday, made the reflective jesses the other day, well I cant beleive how well it went, spotted a squatter and kept the light on him as soon as he moved she was off and a terrific flight ensued she tried really hard to nail him and I thought shed got him but he just managed to get into cover, so I shone the headlamp on the glove and bang shes back on the fist, anaway the next time I switched on the beam shes looking straight down the light instantly, she had another 3 flights and came very close again but dident con
