  7. Interesting reply, Bolio. The irish hare does are massive Generally the saluki hybrids are too slow to get on the hare in our small irish rough fields, but once they are on them they will stay till the end. Around here in the west the hare is gone out the gate, before you even slip the dog. Your only chance is in large fields. I wonder whats the more difficult challenge a fast irish hare, in a small rough field (1 or 2 acres) that knows every gate and escape route, or a hare in the expansive plains of the fens with no real escape bar some rabbit holes perhaps? One for ye all to think abo
  8. i dont have an allrounder ..i have an half rounder ... it takes what i want him to take and does what i want him to do ....thats take hares local.with relitve ease . and now and again on fenland he takes bunnies on the lamp and day and hunts up for them ..and trackes the odd bambi ....thats all ive asked it to do and he does it fairly well ..........people have differnt prspectives on what an allrounder is ....my perspective is if he hunts and catches on a regular basis ..and is consitant ...on what you want him to catch ..then thats good enough ... ....

  14. not a very good pic but in between the juncas grass( tufty stuff ololol)its short and well grazed then you have the juncas where a hare can dissapear just as fast as you so it ...then there the woods hedges walls to deal with ..you never will get a course over the 2 min mark and that would be a long one for round there ..but if you mutts lets the hare get a foot away from its nose they can disapear into thin are .....
  15. the pic at the bottom is ideal ground for pups... a hare couldnt show you its true agilty on that type off ground .....short grass ..grazing fields ...with the rough and cover inbetween is where they can shift a bit ......a bull x grey could catch hares on ground like that

  18. Decieving, he looks like he may have a fair turn of speed. Funny old game breeding hare dogs! its not always the best hare killers that produce the good progeny, although you would want both parents to be able to do the job. everybody has different opinions on certain dogs ..i have spoke to people who say buddy is one of the best they have ever seen ....and other folks put him down as just a good dog ....theres alot off top stuff that have produced fook all .....one thing i do know is that the lads i do know who have used him over there bitches had a wide choice off some off the best stuff
