Cheers mate, just a quick question.Did you know any of the dog or owners? And if it were your dog as a pup do you believe it would be the same? I know what your saying though as ive read about them all day and they are a bit ify!

Yeah coz council estate idiots can pull £600 notes like that cant they! Its not about whats already out there its about crossing the akita with grey, they maybe just as good as whats out there but they may have other areas which are better (IE) Feet! Yes coz the fekin idiots on the council i live on all seem to have them. I thought bull crosses had got bomb proof feet?? The might be drug dealer mate and need them in protection £600 nothing to them! Not all bull x have good feet!

From what i have read they are hard to train and must start from young, there very loyal and protective over family and whats theres,it says knower days there used as guard dogs, and should be one dominant person controlling the animal! But hey they could be as good as any out there over a greyhound!

Cheers mate, im not too sure where the last thread went,i didbt get a chance to see any replies! My brother has just baught one its nine weeks today, massive and has some bite on it,not shy etc! When he told me the name of it it had a scan on the internet and found that they were bred for fighting and hunting big game like bore deer etc and thought of crossing the akita over greyhound, the hieght is there,im just not sure about the weight they could be as heavy as an aluant! There still could be a place for them in the field!
-
I just put this up befor and for some reason it was removed without a pm to say why there wasnt anything wrong with it! Anyway here goes, what do people think of the akita? Do you think it would be a handy dog to put over a greyhound? Maybe used for big game hunting etc! We have had debates on every other cross, i thought this breed will bring some diferent answer and some interesting ones!

Well i caught 2 moles for 1st time not bad,ive got a photo aswel some of the traps frosted and had been dug through so they were reset and covered well today im going for 10+ or i will be dissapointed
-
Yes I'll echo that statement, both good suppliers.. I set a few of those yesderday, and some of those barrel traps just going for a quick look now but with this frost its not looking good .
-
Well i had a call of a mate in need of a hand and with me not working much at the minute i took up the challenge of 2 months mole work and hopefully a bit more, very grateful! Today he has showed me the ropes i have set 20 traps and im hoping for a decent result,if all goes well in the two months i will be starting out myself,im also going to invest in another 20+ traps if anyone knows of any cheap ish ones that work well! Cheers

Personally i would be going out with a dog thats 100% let the bitch watch the dig, when you break through to the dog block all ways for quarry to move put a garden fork in front of the bitch and let her in to bay as long as she stays, after 20 mins or so of this remove the fork and let the dog mix for a short time, after this find a nice shallow earth that is 100% holding net all holes and as soon as you hear her baying try to get down asap and let the bitch know you are comming to get her,it seems to me as if the dog hasnt been dug to at all and is leaving the quarry looking for her gaffa (YOU)

100% with you mate Ive been in this situation, and agree with the above posts.I hand reared my old terrier as a pup,he worked hard for 10 seasons,i risked my life several times when digging him,he never let me down and i never let him down but the time came and i did the right thing, not easy the hardest thing ive ever done but i did it not some stranger, and beleive me done right its instant. When i buried this dog i couldnt throw earth on him,i placed it by hand until he was covered. MEMORIES

100% with you mate never right in the head , blowing a dog away in front of you, if you can live with that after all the service its give to you , and partnership through the years then on your mind be it. i will lay mine to sleep the same way they come in , the body intacted. shooting is humane but i wouldnt want to see the after math , it would be some thing i wouldnt get out of my head. my dogs are my family and i couldnt do that to any one in my family Well considering my dogs are part of my family,it may just be me but i would much rather do it myself than see the dog sca

Good night had spot on mate! Your number plate on there though lol!
-
I know i few that keep there retired dogs until there getting to the point when its time to move on do the best for the dog but not to the vets, every dog ive seen hates vets and to let someone he/she the dog doesnt know put them to sleep with me watching isnt very comfortable for me or the dog so i would rather a walk up the field with the gun and give the dog a sharp one which wouldnt be felt and im would also feel better too doing right by the dog they would never know it happend!
-
Aye i am err computer hunters what to do with them, they need to get out more!
