Went out for a few hours today took my little jill and the lurcher, walked around for about an hour not a thing...decided to head back home then the dog puts a rabbit up,she ran it to ground out with the ferret, first one in the bag.Walking away from the hole and lurcher marks again 20 feet away from the first one puts the ferret in,2 bolt at the same time 1 hits the net the other slips the net but the dog picks that one off, good catch straight down the banking within another 30 feet another mark same result ferret in bunny out...go along the banking a bit further the dog runs 2 baby rabbits t

Hi peeps...As the title says i'm looking to breed my bitch, she's coming up to 6 now she's 5/8 Greyhound 3/8 Collie and stands 23tts.She's only ever been used for lamping and ferreting has will the pup be that i keep from the planned mating.I was thinking of a whippet/greyhound to put over her...though i would be open to other suggestions.Does anybody know of any good whippet/greyhounds at stud preferably in south wales area though would travel for the right dog...yis John

  15. No,there are no ferreters in West Sussex. Sadly ferreting in West Sussex is banned by an ancient Norman charter that makes it illegal to indulge in any form of hunting ,dancing ,singing or any form of enjoyable behaviour . We are not even allowed to make silly jokes or make stupid light-hearted post on the internet . Very far-sighted those Normans .
  16. Excellant thread fella...they were the days...John
  17. Seen a few whippet/beddies have to agree they can make good ferreting/bushing dogs...but must add if your using a dog just for ferreting i've seen a lot of breeds that can do a good job...one of the best i ever seen was a whippet/collie x spaniel that a mate of mine owned,if i could get a dog like her i'd be a happy chappy ...John

  19. I use my ferret regular on squirrels,i use a jill but have used hobs...The ferret I use at the moment wasn't very good at bolting rabbits but is good on the tree rats...One drawback I've found is once they've been on the squirrels they can tend to just want to kill the rabbit rather than bolt...hope this helps...John
