  1. One comment i will say is dont sit in on the internet get out there, its a bit near armchair hunting this forum stuff is.
  2. Just thought i would say I ain to fishing but I have seen these eels in the stream behind my garden. I had a track machine there last year and I duck the bank away and there was hundreds of them falling out of the bank. And some of them are bloody huge!
  3. Stealthy you have helped me a few times and I am much appreciated, With me I have learnt that each section have there own bullshiters and one thing I will say is that in the ferret section stealthy, kay and a chap called quixote who longer comes on here are bang-on. The problem I have noticed is instead of getting a repetitive question such as "when can I work my ferrets" or "how many ferrets to have" are very good questions but when the question are going on about what colour is the best it just bangs on then. Also just an update the guy wanting a gos has posted a question about tethering a g
  4. I just thought i would post my 5pence, I am 22 so I am relatively young and have ferreted since the age of 6. I also did falconry for a number of years and now will be shooting over a gsp, (pup that I am training). And I am also learning in the gundog section but I feel my ferret and falconry knowledge is fair. Now I am more than willing to help and be criticised but the problem is your opinion is normally rubbish to other members and also beginers dont seem to take much advice, I was reading a post in the falconry forum about a young boy wanting a gos as a first bird, to me that would be a ha
  5. I`m glad you said it not me! Keep them as they are I say.
  6. his name is lee brindley, I speak to him on facebook.
  7. He is only a pup, but that is one of my intentions so time will tell, but I know a lot of gsp do fox work.
  8. pointers they are, they do retrieve also, Picking up, wouldnt that be more suited to a lab?
  9. Just thought i`d let you know some more info on korthals, my mate looked in to getting one, what they are smaller more placid german wirehaired pointers, but are a different breed mind, they have not been over here long, they are a good hpr, but the price + breeding restrictions are a bit annoying for me. I would go for a gsp if I was you, they are brilliant with kids, good hard workers, they look the part and not to expensive. I bought a sanjon bred pup and he is brilliant. Just my opinion mind.
  10. Aye good idea, albino with green eyes.
  11. What an uncommon cross, I got a gsp like, wouldnt want anything else, I have never seen an english pointer in real life, but seen a few in books, qite a large looking dog.
  12. what is a gspx pointer? isnt that just a pointer?
  13. no griffons and pointers are actually different, pm me your no and I can explain the differences if you like.
  14. £20 you want to be asking £100 for that.
  15. I use bells and the finder to be honest, once a fert popped out of a hole about 10ft away and i didnt hear him come out so they are handy!
  16. If I was you you would pick up a new shed for say £300 for a 10x8 and where the doors are make a mesh area, I bought a brand new 10x7 wooden kennel/run for £380. But I know the ones of the net (proper jobs) are a minimum of £1000!!
  17. Pal, I myself have a gsp, but the korthal griffon is a pointer/retriever thats what they do. I know they are quite headstrong to train, they are relatively expensive roughly £1200 and normally the breeders will have a form of contract to stop you breeding them, and they are quite stringent to regards of letting them go to working homes. If I was you I would look at what you require the dog to do and also consider the conditions you want such as good with kids etc. I paid £600 for my gsp who is bred from sanjon lines and I would not want anything else.
  18. No no I agree, the goshawk demands time and also needs a lot of kills under its belt, I wish him all the best but I do think he could be taking on a handful.
  19. There is no offence meant, I agree with a mentor it can be done, but with his mates flying harrises and him jumping onto a gos its slightly different, were I come from everybody seems to buy gosses and some people fail. I think a harris can be raised through a book + dvd, but a gos would need a mentor, just my thoughts no offence meant!
  20. ye thats also a tip that nat has given you, my friend used to put the spade in front of the hole, so they had to go down. But because you put them through pipes they should be quite eager. Just remember the more holes and sessions, the more experience you will all gain!
  21. Yea I have to agree with romany and stealth, I do have albinos for the hawk, but I much prefer the poleys, they have a bit of character about them to.
  22. No but i can get you a pink polecat, very sought after and 110% eu polecat.
  23. that is epic and the cops laugh is classic!
  24. when you feed the dog take a picture and see if you can see his stomach working. Id send that pic to most haunted it would come up trumps!
  25. they will be fine boy, just don't expect too much, I bought 2 kits this time last year, and they were working by December, but as said I was resetting nets constantly, but by march they were working well, they seemed to have a look down the holes and then come back and then go back down and then the fun would start, and I did a bit last week for a farmer (I know out of season), and the went down no probs, but rats seemed to bolt out. With me mate, I dont ferret or shoot with anyone often, only if a few of us go on the odd day around new year or xmas so its just trial and error for me. Atb pal.
