  4. i would not encourage on rats until it has been started on the bunnies will only promote a hard mouthed dog imo,its just a pup mate it will soon get the hang of picking them up im sure,be patient, bit young for my liking to be running quarry yet anyway but that's another story. once established on the bunnies then you can turn it on other quarry they aint stupid and learn easily the difference between something that bites back and something that does not, don't want a dog killing bunnies anyway if you ask me,retrieve live to hand is something i all ways try and strive toward but each to their
  5. dont worry about it my lurcher bitch was doing the same thing a few months ago when she was about the same age, so i give her a few sesseions on the lead watching more experienced dogs, then soon enough she squealed a rabbit and she let it go, but she hasnt let one go since. i put a topic on here about it at the time, listen to watchman he gives good advice

  9. theres a lot of strong opinions on here, but the people who have posted with experience of the breed havn't left a negative post yet, all the bad points of the breed have been pointed out by peoples opinions. this breed may not have the best stamina but if there was such thing as a perfect breed evreryone would have one
  10. just so i know, how would shooting your dog with a .22 stop it yapping , ive seen this on another topic before, sounds pathetic to me.... a yapping whippet can still make an exelent ratting and fereting dog if thats what u want it for
  11. have a look at the topic called "big problem" i put it up because i have the same problem and there is some spot on advice on there, someone has written up 3 steps to improvong a dogs prey drive, its worth reading mate brilliant post
  12. ive got a gsd x grey 11 months old, im having a bit of trouble with her i put a topic up the other day "big problem" but i put that down to being a pup, shes brilliant in the cover and i didnt know a german sheperd x could be so fast
  13. the best lurcher ive ever had was a wheaton grey, a really game fast obidient bitch, but i could imagine a wheaton whipet to be a bit of a yapper exept for that a briliant dog, if its a whippet x your after imo your better off with beddy in the mix Gripper
  14. cheers ill look it up, 9 seasons of rabbiting that sound like nice game dog atb
  15. thanks for the replys mate and ill look it up but its not a silly question, its more of a silly answer obv the ideal rabbiting dog should have a lot of greyhound or whippet in but what else collie? beddy? none? and how much of it, just wanted other peoples opinions on the best dog for rabbiting, most people go for good all rounders Gripper

  20. thats sickening mate if you cant trust your friends who can you trust, taking a mans dog is as bad as taking a proud mans child, BIG TREE SMALL ROPE THATS MY SOLUTION FOR THEM
  21. size varies same as all dogs, i wouldn't call it a problem ive seen a 5 year old beddy/whip which was only 16" and was apparently a brilliant ferreting and ratting, and a 16" whipx is really tiny a lot smaller then it may sound
