  4. would ya cross her with a greyhound and keep a pup for other lurcher work
  5. all they have to do is type pre ban, but theyd rather fill a very good thread with crap.nice to see some fox dogs on here
  6. i think its hard enough to get a straight cross, and then a racy one even harder
  7. Cheers yep three quarter collie grey, fast, intelligent and easy to start
  8. Cheers yep three quarter collie grey, fast, intelligent and easy to start
  9. yea it must be the name given to any dog of that sort,i think its wrong to group them all under that when its not specifically a certain breed ,they must be cross breeds, there is a wide range of mastiff, you would imagine a great dane type used in battle years ago
  10. what exactly is an alaunt mate,is it a cross
  11. LOL , RYAN IS HE GOING WELL 4 YA Rab when you out again.? OUT 4 DEER 2 NIGHT WITH RIFEL , WILL GIVE U A SHOUT NEXT WEEK , GET A WE NIGHT 4 A FEW RABBITOS . ha i like that pic in your avatar good stuff
  12. hopefully,as im training in a saluki cross at the moment but as i say youl get a higher percentage of collie x doing things lke this than salukis, from what iv seen
  13. their intelligence makes a big difference i think, when they can anticipate the turn of what their chasing.my collie cross ,dead now,was good at this,ie.lamping rabbits, and he wouldnt always run down the beam but run to the left or right whichever way would cut the rabbit off .these things are more likely to happen with intelligent animals.
  14. ive 2 springer/beagle pups at 6 months and they are quiet in the kennels and arent messy they are obedient so far aswell.no howling thank god, seem ok mate
  15. If i was just getting one for the red lad pre ban,i would opt for a 3/4 bred animal,,with foxy you must put him under pressure fast, if he gets a head of steam up your dog is going to run out of field space and your fox will be gone All the gameness in the world wont catch him if your dog dont have the legs,,, cheers lads, shes a fine bitch, the leggy first cross would be the job for it,but i think you would catch amore with the three quater, especially when hunting covers in the day, maybe longer working life when its in its later years being racier. but the greater risk of long term injury
  16. nice dog mate.i prefer the half cross butwhich dog will kill more .on average throughout the full workin life with durability, catch rate and gameness in mind?
  17. empty vessels make the most noise!springs to mind,i dont think the terrier lads are in need of advice from oz,for digging charlie imo.
  18. ,if we were talking pre ban and you were looking for a dog for foxes only would you go for the more durable, gamer half cross over the faster 3/4?i is it worth the loss of speed in your opinion
  19. what way is the red dog bred mate?hes the stamp of my dog,hes saluki/whippet x grey, hes around 12 months not much done yet ,got him for the big rabbits.
  20. no one sells on good lurchers mate if they are still in the game
