  7. Be good to see you at Birr - as you can see we have put together some discounted packages for admission but like everyone else our margins have been squeezed for the last two years through working out packages with exhibitors on one hand and greatly increased costs on the other. Traders are hurting a lot BUT we have asked all traders to have at least one bargain offer on their stand and as we have a good range of traders booked in there should be plenty of bargains to be had. Unlike Ballinough we have the support of the NARGC ( with a huge stand) and FISSTA as well as CAI, IFA Countrysid

  11. I have just returned from the above show and would like to point out a few issues that arose during the show. First been the price at the gate, I feel I ripped them off cause they only charged me five euros in, honest, and then the woman at the burger stand undercharged me again, another five euro for a burger and drink, lol. On a more serious note I was to extend my gratitude to Kevin and the other men and women who have in my mind produced yet another outstanding Terrier and Lurcher show, the sheer volume of dog men and woman who turned out made for a most enjoyable day, met p
  12. Dont think thats the issue Brian, people are missing the whole point regarding this thread, pm sent. Irish Lurcher I have just seen that you have sent a pm to a reader of this forum regarding some issues surrounding this years show.I have been organising the Lurcher & Terrier events for this Game Fair for the past 14 years and have never experienced such bad public slagging as i have seen this year after both The Moira & Ballinlough shows. I am very curious as why this is happening because we have been using the same process in terms of picking judge's from working

  14. Derek all 3 judges on the day do WORK the dogs that they judged on the day.I judged the whippets and i have owned and worked whippets for the past 15 years and i dig with the Terrier judge aswell if you have owned and worked whippets for the past 15yrs, would you say that the whippets that were shown were of a good working standard? Every whippet that was in the ring had the potential to work but it's not for me to say that the owner work their dogs or not some where a bit heavy but thats exspected for this time of year but in the working class the dogs that were picked were in my

  16. First of all allow me to state my intent; I have no great desire to attend any meeting regarding the Ballinlough Game fair, period. The complaints regarding the show should act as a guideline for you in relation to further shows, simple. The problems were obvious for all to see on the day and those who attended were correct in their summary. I have not and never will act in an advisory capacity regarding the running of any game event in Ireland; I do not posses the necessary skills required to advice on same. I am of the believe this is a perfect example of deflecting the problems that were
  17. Michael that is your choice. We believe that €15 is value for money considering all the competitions, demonstrations, attractions and stands that will be at the show. Our price is also in line with most other large events with one exception, we do not charge for children as long as they are accompanied by an adult. You still reckon its good value?
  18. sounds like you have taken into account the feed back and acted upon same, credit due. Two day price is most welcome, again credit due, look forward to the Fair. Can I ask who shall be judging the lurchers?
  19. Graham think you are missing the point, no disrespect to the judges, but if you want to attract dog men to a show you have to demonstrate that you are willing to bring on board reputable judges, fact, which the show sadly lacked in this department, I don't blame the judges on the day, they were asked to judge a show. In order to run a show that has credibility among the hunting (DOG) fraternity you must be prepared to allocate funds to this section of the show in order to ensure that the show the judging and the results are fair, and it was quiet evident that the organisers in their wisdom c
