Hiya but, i dont think that there is a first aid box for a dog, i dont know if i speak on behalf of anyone else here, but what i do i just pick up the odd bits and pieces, majority of them are the stuff we use. anti inflammatories, antiseptic spray, tweezers, penicillin, sudo cream, an a few clean rags to clean them up with just general stuff like that, you dont need to buy the top of the range stuff. Just gather a few bits and pieces, if you dont want to buy anything, warm salted water on cuts etc is a good solution.

I have used electric collar on our dogs, reasons being: to stop sheep worrying along with cows or any form of cattle, as if u get caught with the farmer while ur dog is around the sheeps neck, he'l shoot it. Using the electric collar you do have good results, u have different tensities to use on the dog, the one we used went 1-8. Thankfully the dogs (touch wood) dont run after sheep or cattle, sometimes they wont even look at them. What you looking at using one for??

Hiya, i see a few people have viewed this and havent bothered replying to your post. I go to the local butchers and ask for scraps, the bags contains a mix of all types of meats. Some times u can have a really good bag of meat and think for dinner? or for dogs? haha. just go in there and ask for scraps for the dogs, some times u will have alot of bones other times its just pure meat. This is a bargain to, ask ur local butchers for all the lambs hearts he has in the back, cause they put so many out in the window and once they start discolouring (theyr ok only need to rinse them theyr perfect to

Myxomatosis has hit us where i am thanks to the local golf club. Just wondering when your out lamping with the dogs and they bring back a rabbit that is infected, do you still use the rabbit for anything? For example: food for ferret, you, dog or put in for a live trap etc I havent had time to read up on this Myxomatosis, but can it spread onto a dog?

experienced dogs will help, but stil the dog wil only take it when the dog it ready to. Either take it out with another dog to show him or try him again an it wil eventually come. You cant expect the dog to know how to do everything just give it time thats the best thing. all the best

what people gotta remember the pup has just left its mother and the rest of the litter, so they are gonna whine. Yeah like the ther guy said leavin the radio on does help or get another dog

Ah im glad its sorted, should be back running in a few weeks

to me thats just bein lazy, get a pup that u want for a quarter of the price and train it up THE WAY YOU WANT IT TO BE and it wil be ready for next season. everybodys dog out there is what you say you want, is basically what they got. yeah its good that u got the money that your willing to pay for the dog, but you just want everything handed to you on a plate. £1000.00 aint alot for a dog if the owner has put a few hard years training into it. Thats just my opinion

what to help lurcher recoverMissRhianL replied to munsterlurcher's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk Bang him full with carbs and protein: carbs will bring his energy levels back up stop the lameness and protein wil repair any muscle fibres that have been torn while out running. Normally the dog goes out on the weekend so has plenty of sunday dinner left overs, make extra gravy and fill a bowl with broken up bread and tip all the left overs and mix it, the dogs love it. Or what we normally get is an ox heart cut it all up and give it to the dogs after they have come in. Followed with a nice massage rub down.

hiya i have a saluki bull collie greyhound, 5 months old, i feed him on hounder pup with a mixer. i got food laid up for him all day he eats when hes hungry. We also have a bull x greyhound 17 months old, eats exactly the same type of food. We take his food off him if hes off out lamping in the night and 5 hours before hes due to go out lamping he has scrambled egg with tuna to tie his stomach over. They have the odd meat and bone scraps from the local butchers. Followed with sunday dinner left overs. Rhian

training collers for lurcherMissRhianL replied to Stevebeno's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk I dont think a shock collar would be recommended in this situation, a few of my mates have used this collar on their dogs, and its worked brilliant BUT it was used to stop sheep worrying and now they wont look at them twice. The only thing that u can do is time, make a certain gesture like what i do is flash the light at my feet so the dog knows when to come back, its just time and persistance. Hope this helps atb Rhian
